Hahaha, exactly. The new Civics are cool little cars, but I don't think I'd want to drive a torque-less wonder like that day-to-day.

Shit the Speed 3 makes even more TQ than the 350Z does, at a lower RPM in a lighter car, no wonder that thing scoots around as well as it does.

I'm putting on flame suit big time for this one, I think I'm going to go drive a new Cobalt SS tomorrow as well.

From what I understand, there are some warranty legal upgrades from chevy that really up the power. 280hp/320tq just with the reflash and new sensors, then they also have an intake/exhaust combo that pulls the HP up around the 300 mark.

Cobalt SS is fun, but again the quality comes ringing in. Huge bang for the buck though, we had a little yellow 4 door turbo for the longest time that I liked.

In 2008 I talked up the Civic Si sedan to a customer who had an 06 Odyssey, and his wife, a 2007 Accord v6 sedan. We talked for about 3 hours on and off while we were doing the brakes on his minivan, (stay at home father of 3, wife was an x-box sales rep for microsoft) and he calls me a week later, he went and traded the van, got the Si sedan, pissed off his wife, but was happy, and felt like he still had some manhood.

They look to be going for $11,000 - $16,500 used.

cobalt SS is a quick little wrong wheel drive. But I have been in a more than a few cobalt's (rental cars) and you cant see outta them and the are just a little rattle traps. I hate cobalt's and this is from a guy that used to DD a caviler for a work beater.

You dont understand civics untill you drive them...just having 9k rpm is so much fun...i had a 99 civic SIR(american si) with basic bolt-on's it was so much fun to drive...nothing beats having to bounce that revlimiter all day and not worry about breaking anything.

also it is good on gas and hella reliable.

                  this thread just went south.

Legacy ended up being an econobox for the most part, and they didnt have any 6 speeds on the lot.. So im still searching too.

i think the speed3 is the best bang for the buck, a buddy of mine had one with 293 wheel and 301 tq, and a consitant 13.5 quarter, terrible wheel spin qnd tq steer tho. scary kinda to drive. speed 6 is bad ass same motor as teh speed 6 but awd and now wheel spin.
Caddy is bad ass but i think its kinda ugly, like mid nineties future car. sti is all around a fun car. but the ej25 i have heard is a terror to work on and they are coming of the age where you need to work on the bottom end. my buddy that had the speed3 sold it in favor of a sti then blew a turbo at 50k miles and then motor fell through on a conservative dyno test at 55k.
the legacy gt is fun but really heavy....so is the b6 s4...if you didnt like the z you wont like either of those. the gt's tranny is glass too.

most of vw newer cars 1.8ts and 2.0ts are really easy to tune but the cost one repair is just redictluous. and most are wrongwd. the new passat cc vr6 4motion is clean semiquick and reliable. and the key to the ignitions is trippy.

evo ix mr is what you are really looking for tho...

I drove the Mazdaspeed3 today and holy shit, one of the most fun cars I have ever driven. Amazing amount of car for the money and now I have to wonder if I should buy that instead of the 6 sedan I was planning on picking up this next month.

                              1. You hear wrong.
                              2. You shouldn't need to "work" the bottom end unless you're a retard/bought a dog
                              3. He bought a shit car. To have the turbo and engine go like that tells me he either drives like a fuckwit or bought a shit car. Turbos on Subarus are normally reliable past 300,000km out here, same for engines.

I read the post and kinda chuckled, glad you mentioned it though Iain. They're stout cars when properly modded, taken care of, and not thrashed on constantly. But if you're thrashing something constantly, it's not outlandish that shit's going to break, regardless of what vehicle it is.
