    Skydivers Check In

Doing my first tandem this Monday with my gf at lake elsinore. I'm interested in doing AFF too. Anyone here completed their AFF courses? What were your experiences like?

Why would you want to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft

Woot! Skydiving is awesome. I've only done it once - and loved it. It's as good or better than sex. (I know that's a weird thing to hear someone say.)

Free fall is only about 15 seconds or so. It feels like an hour. There are all these triggers that go off in your head like "oh fuck, what the fuck did I just do - god damn, this was a stupid fucking idea" kinda alarms. It's a head trip for sure.

It's makes the most extreme roller-coaster feel like child's play. Nothing like it. Your instructor will tell you this - don't look down the whole time. Looking at the ground slowly heading towards you actually isn't that interesting. It just looks like you are zooming in on google maps. Tilt your head up and look at the horizon and all around you - it's a wonderful sight.

I love it George. What altitude did you jump from? They told me it will be about a 50-60 second free fall. We'll be jumping from about 12,500 ft. I know I'm going to be addicted so I'm considering doing the first AFF course instead of a tandem.

I could be totally wrong on the freefall time - But there a good chunk of time when you are falling - and I mean falllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllling. And there's no bottom, no slowing down. That's the craziest part. Every cell in your brain will be 100% convinced that you are moments away from death.

I jumped from 12.5k. I really want to go again once I get stronger.

Shoot I'm doing a tandem jump next week out in Lodi for 100$ even.
60 second freefall from 13000 feet should be quite an experience.

$100 is cheap. Not that one should really "shop around" for the lowest price with this sort of thing.

i recently took up skydiving, i never had the desire, actually i was kind of scared but tried to convince myself otherwise with that excuse. then one day said fuck it, i'm doing it. didn't get scared or nervous during the process. looking down from 13k is unreal. haha, i think someone on the plane ride up shit their pants.

the first day i ever jumped i did wind tunnel for 10min, 1 tandem, and a few solos. i had a blast. can't wait to finish my class a.

I have always loved flying planes, which has also given me the curiosity of what it's like to really "fly"... I would love to do it someday.

Ended up doing my AFF to get my license. The tandem seemed too easy :D I looked like a fucking ninja turtle falling at 120mph. I'd say the scariest part of the whole ordeal was the plane ride up. After the jump I felt like I snorted 20 lines of blow.
