haha loving those close call videos George! I've studied just about every parachute malfunction I can find on youtube. You just can't see them enough. You've gotta be prepared for the worst at all times.

Here's my AFF Level 1 Video. I'll hopefully be up to level 4 this weekend! Excuse the mustache and crazy hair. Both are gone now ;) I might have a smile on my face in the plane but I was fucking terrified. The plane ride was the scariest part for me.

Check out Bill at about 2:00 he does like 6 barrell rolls out of the plane and he's pushing 65 years of age.

Freeflying is INSANE. These guys make it look so easy. You need a few hundred belly down jumps before you can even consider flying in a new position.

    tasty

You look like a hybrid cross between a 70's Police Officer, Sears Appliance Salesman, and, a Porn Mogul.

The tiny body movements for adjustment is sick. Mad redic.

Awesome. Was that training to find the pull cord? Why did you keep putting your hand back?

It also seems really hard to communicate up there. With your whole body on sensory overload even a smack upside the helmet could go unnoticed!

Yea I take it you can hear anything, so do you use hand signals and stuff like that?

Wow there's so much talent out there. So in those wind tunnels you have to be horizontal or else you won't have enough lift? It seemed like those guys were able to stand upright pretty easily. Looks like a ton of fun. :-D

Yes, those were practice Touches. Each AFF Level has a different Dive flow.

                      Level 1 was as follows:
                      Exit Flow:
Check in, check out, Look at prop, Ready, Set, Step out, Arch like all HELL.

                      Freefall Flow:
                      Maintain Arch, count to 4 (1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000, 4-1000)
Circle of awareness (Check Altitude, Look at horizon, Check main instructor, Check Reserve Instructor)
3 Practice Touches (Arch, Reach, Touch)
Circle of awareness (Check Altitude, Look at horizon, Check main instructor, Check Reserve Instructor)
Forward Movement for 4 seconds (done by straightening your legs and pushing down against the wind)
                      Quick COA
                      Lock onto Altimiter at 6,000ft.
                      Pull by 5500ft.

                      Canopy Flow:
                      Count to 4 during Canopy opening (1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000, 4-1000)
Is the Canopy There, Square and Controllable?
Canopy Control Checks: 3 second flare, Right 360, left 360
Maintain Altitude awareness and navigate to holding area to setup for Landing pattern.
                      Check wind direction
                      Determine landing pattern
                      1000 ft. enter Landing Pattern
                      600ft. Turn 90°
                      300ft. Turn 90°
100ft. Legs together and ready for PLF if necessary
                      12ft. FLARE

Celebrate like all hell and then pack up the chute!

Each time you do a COA the instructors will give you hand signals telling you how to adjust your body position. There are hand signals for the following:

                      Check altitude
                      Hips Down/Arch
                      Relax
                      Knees together
                      Knees apart
                      Straighten Legs
                      Bend Legs
                      Check Arms
                      Perform practice touches
                      Pull Pilot Chute
Thumbs up = Good body position

I was screaming out my dive flow in the air out of habit and couldn't even hear myself.

So true, the camera guy actually hit me when we exited the plane. I didn't even know this until my GF got her video and her video guy caught my exit on film.

                        Interesting stuff - thanks!

Yea, I remember trying to yell and nothing really coming out. Also, the inrush of air into your lungs is quite odd. It's not so much that you need to breath, the air pressure seems to do that for you, you just have to exhale. Very odd feeling - I assume that's the same for everyone.
