just keep light pressure on the gas pedal. one hand on the wheel, one on the e-brake. not too hard. practice makes perfect

    After considerable pondering...

Say Im on a steep hill (cough downtown Seattle). I pull up in traffic, shift to neutral and pull the ebrake. Then the light turns green and I have to shift to 1st WHILE releasing the ebrake. The car will stall without releasing the brake fast enough right?

And if you scroll halfway down there is a powerpoint that explains how these push/pull things work.

It's safe... I downloaded it already.

Well I would rig up the throttle on the wheel... but then that means my prosthetic leg has to control the brake. And that is just dangerous in my oppinion.

Sounds like you need a right hand drive car man! Then you could use your left foot for the clutch and figure out the throttle. Seems like the throttle would be easier to rig up than a clutch, but the link posted above has some cool stuff! Super effective, I have a friend in a wheelchair and we're always rigging up ways for him to do shit in his chair. Never thought fabricating for a wheelchair would feel so rewarding slash awesome.

But on the real, I understand the desire to want to drive 5 speed because of the doubt from your peers or the need to fit in, but paddle shifting seems right up your alley! Best of both worlds and you could still do a lot of the same stuff as a manual trans. :) But yeah, in high school I could barely afford drugs much less a car equipped with that sort of technology.

I'm sure some junkyard motorcycle action can get this done for less than $50.
Yes there is no doubt a cheaper option but you have to consider the bore and stroke of motorcycle master cylinder. The one I posted was the first I found with a similar bore to the stock e30 one (I think)

Yes the lever would replace your clutch master cylinder. Pushing in the clutch pedal disengages the clutch from the engine. The tricky part would be finding a MC that could move as much fluid as the OEM e30 master. And input pressure yadda yadda yadda unless of course you have some built forearms

The 22mm handlebar mount would almost be perfect for the thicker portion of the shifter, then you could just run a SS line to the slave cylinder. A reservoir could be mounted near the ashtray. You would have to consider the displacement of fluid needed to release the clutch but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
