normally i where DC's around, theyre comfy, and fit well. although, the qaulity has gone down some recently. i used to get 2 years from a pair, ive only had my current onces about a year, and theyre trashed. im torn between redwings, and wolverine durashocks. i might give the timberlands a look, but mostly all ive seen where it are big fat black guys that sell coke.

I had a pair of timberland steel toe shoes for 5 or 6 yrs before they wore out and I am HARD on boots. They were great. They still actually have some life in them too.

Now I'm wearing CAT steel toe boots and i got to say, after i broke them in they are awesome. Even came with gell inserts.

Being an air conditioning and refrigeration guy in florida, I live in my work boots and am picky as hell.

A buddy I work with swears by walmart cheapies but he completely destroys them in a month.

My parents owned a shoe repair shop for ~30 years. My dad has torn down and rebuilt hundreds of work boots and he always said Danner and Redwing were the best. White's are ok, but they use lower quality materials like plastic instead of steel shanks and basically will cost more to fix when needed.

I got my hands on some Danner's and some White's while at a store in town, gotta say I like most of the construction. I will say about the Whites, I've never seen zinc coated "drywall" screws in the bottom of a shoe...

that how they were made a long time ago
Easier to replace the soles that way and those are not Dry wall screws, they are brass

Nitro: Whites use a all leather Shank, they are built primarily for wild land fire fighters and the non steel shank does not transmit heat as easily from the hot ass ground to your foot. While not a stiff in the midsole and arch as steel shanked boots, I think they are more comfortable and let your foot move a bit more naturally than if there is chunk of steel in there.

I know they are not drywall screws, I was describing them for visual context.

Looking at both brands sites, I'm having trouble finding something suitable for my needs that is the correct size and width. Also, nowhere stocks the sizes I'd need anyway, so I can't even verify they'll even fit. I wish they had a custom sizing order form, or some way to custom size them.

I suggest a job where work boots are not needed.

still standing by my durashocks. fucking great boots, light enough to feel like a normal shoe, and still durable, and sturdy as a boot should be.
