Yea, N95 is about 1.3€/l (5.2€/gal) and about 70% of that is getting it here and various taxes.
The price of CNG for cars is supposed to go up 30% come December 2011 (no consumer tax on it at the moment) and logically, nobody will want those cars since they have about half the range of diesels and there's only a few stations, one of which is really close to me so I was really thinking about getting one. You could of course tap in to your home CNG line, but the pumps cost about 3500$ for a pump that fills the tanks in 3 hours, that's 30% of the used car price.
So the taxes are what's ruining all these ideas and I wouldn't be surprised if they made an "electric car tax" when the time comes. People just won't buy these technologies if they're more expensive than regular fuels, except those stupid posers, who'll buy them just to be "eco friendly".
Oh and the funniest thing is that my friend bought an electric car last year. It's a Peugeot 106, the French made a couple hundred of them. When he imported it and wanted to register it, they wanted him to pay an eco tax. Engines here have "Euro emissions specs", registering old cars, Euro 0, 1 and 2 have to pay a one time tax and since the electric car doesn't have ANY emissions and no Euro spec, it's considered a 0, which is 500$ registration. The tax laws didn't consider electric at all. Crazy shit.
