So, X part of town is nice, then a bunch of poor people move in and shit the place out. That's correlation not causation? The poor people weren't the cause?
I agree that it's an economic thing, for the most part.
I'll just use anecdotal evidence from where I live. There are three distinct "poor areas" of Tulsa. North Tulsa is black, east/northeast is Mexican, old west Tulsa is white.
I'll let you guess which two of those areas are home to the majority of violent crime in Tulsa county. So if it's purely an economic argument, how come the poor white areas of town aren't crime ridden?
....Ding Ding Ding Ding! we have a winner! no snappy quick wit replys to this one i noticed..... you put this point very simply and very well. kind of hard to argue with facts. fact is the worst neighborhoods in the SF bay area are all...dare i say it...Black. "the killing fields" in Oakland. black. "the iron triangle" in Richmond. black. "hunters point" in Pittsburg/Bay Point. black. .......hmmmm....i could let the list grow but that's enough for here... correlation. nah, i don't think so
First off, I apologize, I haven't had much time to be online lately. My theory is simple, but some of you guys may think it's a bit radical, and its by no means correct, or provable in all scenarios. By recalling the circumstances in which slavery originally took place in the United States, one would see that the 'second-rate' treatment, given to the people of colored skin had an effect on their lives, and education. By not being given the same privileges as Caucasians, many fell into the all too common "stereotype", which is a different concept on its own.
Now what if we removed income from the picture? One of the variables that we'd be left with is race. Again, by no means, is this argument correct, there are infinite ends to the spectrum. There are many exceptions to this theory, one being the "redneck" populous. In my eyes, a dumb, "ghetto" African American is worth just the same as a dumb, ghetto Caucasian, or Hispanic. When one removes the racial variable, an infinite amount of other possibilities arise.
Ivy league schools now discriminate against white/asians while giving preference to lower scoring blacks/hispanics..................the "there ancestors twice removed were treated terribly" is becoming a dead argument.
