OP you had reason to be pulled over, something hanging from the rear view = visual obstruction in most state laws (I am sure CA is no different). Was a it a BS stop yeah sure it prolly was, but your G/F gave him the cause to pull you guys over. He can pull you over any why for what ever he wants to put on the paper work, but you guys gave him the excuse.

As to the comments and what not, I would have filed complaint that night or the next day, and surely would again now with this. But he is entitled to his opinion no matter how wrong and misguided it may be, but it should not be broadcast, iust plain unprofessional.

Next time he stops you, ask if you are being detained and if you are free to go, answer his questions about who you are, but other than that dont say a word, and continue to ask if you are being detained and if you are free to go.

Oh and how do you know there was not someone that fled a robbery or something on foot, in the area you were in. Would I be pisses if I were in your shoes, your damm right I would be but sadly this is the world of police oppression we live in where they seem to throw Constitution out the window and think they are some kind of sole authority

This, and a true story. I was pulled over in Miami FL because I was white. Even harassed, missing a Panthers game in Ft Lauderdale I was headed to because of the incident. Several members of R3v witnessed this first hand. It happens to everyone!

I know my particular Metropolitan area has some of the toughest requirements for Police Officers in the country. Including a 4 yr college degree.

with a troubled economy even the police are cutting back. The requirements are being raised to filter out some of the lower class of police. A lot of places are now requiring a 4 year degree to enter the force. Going though the academy just does not cut it anymore!
