what droid should i get?

in a few weeks i will be up for my upgrade with Verizon and i will be getting a droid.

i need help from the droid owners/users.

i was hoping that the droid2/X was going to come out with a physical keyboard and it looks like it will be the droid X which has the soft touch screen keyboard.....CRAP

so, my 3 choices are:

get a DROID (motorola) physical keyboard, been out for a little bit, bugs and support (software) should not be a problem by now, $50 less than the other 2 choices.

get an HTC INCREDIBLE. soft keyboard, looks like it does everything but give you a handy J (there might be an app for that though), 8meg camera

get a DROID X seems to be the motorola answer to the INCREDIBLE soft keyboard, 8 meg camera

those of you who have the soft keyboard what do you think of it? hard to get used to VS the QWERTY hard type?

i bought my current LG ENVY because it was a 3G and Verizon had nothing equal to the iPhone. it has be NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS! software issues up the ass, the dam thing randonly shuts off when i am on the mobile web (there is no fix, they just give me a new replacement phone) the screen has gone out on it several times. i am on my 15th replacement phone which is BS!

i printed up the stuff from the verizon site on each phone, but it is mostly greek to me until i have one in my hands, so help would be great before i buy 1 of the three phones

I was in the same boat as you, basically, wanted android but also wanted a physical keyboard. I formerly had an LG Voyager with a full QWERTY and loved it so was hesitant about witching to soft.

So far, I love the Moto Droid, I am still very dependent on the physical keyboard and have not quite gotten a knack for using the soft keyboard. I have messed around with the features on the soft keyboard such as vibrate to touch, and sensitivity level and still have not found something I enjoy yet.

I say, go for the Moto Droid so if you hate the soft keyboard you at least have a crutch. It looks like the future is going to be soft only so we will be shit out of luck anyway. But the way I figure it, the moto droid is amazing for the price. You will be happy with it regardless and if you update in even a few months it will still have been a good investment.

I got really acclimated to the lack of any buttons in a few days. You will too. Don't get something on that basis alone.

ok, then if i go with a soft keyboard, what is the better of the 2 between the DROID X and the INCREDIBLE?

is one processor better than the other, stuff like that.

might want to read up on these if you plan on installing any other OS, dev stuff like that. Motorola has a "efuse" that will brick your phone if you toy around too much with that sort of thing. Nothing to worry about if all you plan to do is d/l a few apps and be a normal user, but good to know.

Droid X is the best, I want to say it is the same processor as the Incredible but a lot more features like you can shoot video in 720p and has hdmi out.

I just got the incredible and love it..I got it over the Droid x simply because of the size of the phone. Btw I posted this from my incredible! Oh yeah and voice to text is badass

that's the stuff i want to know about. i don't PLAN..... on installing a different operating system, but i am going to have this for another 2 years or so, who knows what will come out by then. i will just prob use it to surf the web, download some apps (including app killer to save on the battery life) take pics, make calls.....run MegaSquirt??????????? (maybe....i doubt it could though) nothing too out there yet.

I still like the hard key board for texting, its tons eaiser if you have normal sized hands and you know you hit the key.

I still hate the soft keys for texting emailing and other such typing activities the soft keys are not bad for dialing the phone and what not.

that is what i run into when i use the soft keyboard on my LG. i have big 'ol hands and it is hard for me to text and have real words show up!

Moto Droid here. I can't speak to the difference between it and any of the others. What I can tell you is that it has an available night stand/multimedia dock and a windshield mount; I have both and get a lot of use from them. I use the phone as my alarm on the night stand dock. The windshield mount is in my E30 since my speedo doesn't work, so I use an app for that. "GPS Speedo" IIRC. Simply an awesome phone.

get the swype keyboard... and you will type faster than a physical keyboard and only use one finger... it really is pretty amazing how it works.

I got the EVO and the size is not an issue

I have a Droid. I cant stand not having a physical keyboard. Although the Droid X is probably the most powerful smartphone on the market. Dont get the Incredible, its already being phased out.
