Rim of the Pacific Naval Exercise (pictures)

Alright so for the past month I've been at sea for RIMPAC. What is it?

"the Rim of the Pacific Exercise, is the world's largest international maritime exercise. It is hosted and administered by the United States Navy, but the United States Marine Corps and United States Coast Guard are also involved, as well as Hawaii National Guard forces under the leadership of the Governor of Hawaii. Also invited are allied military forces from the Pacific Rim nations. The event is held biennially in June and July in Honolulu, Hawaii, under the leadership of the United States Pacific Command, headquartered at the Nimitz-MacArthur Pacific Command Center at Camp H. M. Smith near the Honolulu subdivision of Salt Lake."

Enjoy the pictures, some are not mine and were taken by my shipmates.

Recieving fuel from the USNS Yukon:

Sunsets at sea are always amazing.

This was the sink exercise we all did, here we are steaming in formation up to the target:

Hearing protection required for the show!

    BOOM!

    and a miss...

    Another ship taking some shots:

See what I mean about those sunsets...

    standby for more pictures...

Nice pics, the wife and I have been on Kona for the last two weeks, the first week we were at the same hotel as the ANG folks out of Fresno with their F-16s. We spent a week on a dive boat ( I won an ironman award for not missing a dive, 27 in 5 days and a morning ) We've been watching the lawn darts whenever we have been near the airport.

I almost joined the 144th as a crew cheif right before I decided to go active duty!

27 dives in 5 days is crazy! I did 12 dives in 4 days in Egypt and I was beat!

Nice pics at sea OP, don't know how you navy boys do it.

5 years in the NAVY and I never once was on a ship. Although I missed out on quite an experience 6 months at sea never seemed enticing. I tear up looking at that shit because not enough people realize what it means to serve especially the ass hats in Washington. Good job dude.

What a giant waste of taxpayers money. Its like when the F15's fly around my house just burning up fuel we pay for just so they can do exercises for all the dog fighting we are engaged in here. Everyday. I guess you can justify it any way you want. Im not anti the service. Any branch. It just seems they love blowing money.
Ma che cazzo state dicendo? :|
