I'm having a hard time figuring out when this happened though...seems like it wasn't too long ago.

I'm curious enough to search through the local papers for the story.

Yup, and he mentioned having a cell phone as well. Doesn't necessarily mean it was too recent but I'm thinking late 90's early 00's.

I'd put my money on a tall tale, but entertaining nonetheless. That's the thing about heroin, the instant you start that shit you are pretty much doomed. The "last deal" story with the girl was rather upsetting even though in all likelihood it's fictional.
