We have a license sticker on windshields. Looks similar to the plate - just smaller. Used mostly by photo-radar things to read the numbers.

You can never be to careful when hiding your personal data :)

general internet paranoia. I would cover my license too...It's really just a matter of security, however rudimentary and unnecessary as it seems.

furthermore, anything not anonymous on the internet = a target. people just like to fuck with other people for no reason. If some random ass dude sees my plate number on a forum, he just might decide "i'm gonna go fuck with this guy's car"

and if you'd ask that guy why he wants to fuck with my car, chances are his answer would probably be "because i could...dumbass posted his license plate"
