For some reason you are my hero because of this. I bet that smelled like $hit though, I remember how nasty some of those places were from when I lived in the panhandleLeave a comment:

You hunt them to get gator skin for making:
Gator Skin Boots
Gator Skin Shoes
Gator Skin Seat Covers
Gator Skin Luggage
And a host of other gator skin items... kekeke
Or the meat. It tastes good. Main reason is as the 'hunter' you are paying the state to help control the population. It is a perfect setup for the State of Florida. They need to control the population. People will pay the state to get tags... to hunt.Leave a comment:

Most red thing I have done(Picture Heavy)
Usually my 'story threads' pertain to cars but this was different. Just spent 8 days in Florida. Working. Seeing Family. Went to a concert. Topped the week off gator hunting! It was quite the good time I will have to say!
We had 2 tags for the season and hoped to fill both opening night on Lake Jesup and we were not dissappointed. We backed out of my cousin's apartment at 7pm Sunday night and went to prep the boat, bait, food etc. We didn't return till 8am Monday morning!
Prepping the rotten Beef Lung. It was purchased a few days before and left outside... smell is quite bad!

This is our office until day break!

The dumbest thing of the night. All our first baits made it into shore and got tangled up. Boat isn't getting stuck(lake only 5-6ft at deepest) My cousin decides we REALLY need that one lung back and proceeds to get out of boat and retrieve it... lawdy.

Wait to check bait. Wait to check bait. Wait. Wait. Ok let's go check bait! First one the gator let go! No! Check others...
Gator 1 - Pull him up. Harpoon. Bang stick him in the head! Of course tag him as well. Got to stay legal!

3am and we get him into the truck. Time to get a bigger one... or try to! More waiting and waiting. Eventually we see that one gator has taken TWO baits at once! This could be good. It was like Jaws... he was pulling the jugs under water and tiring himself out! "Not with 3 barrels!"
I harpoon him. Paul bang sticks... not before the thing attacks the boat!

At the processor... the creepiest place I have been in a long time. PERFECT spot for a horror movie about some crazy gator killing people. Or the people that harvest gators killing people. Either one. They people were really nice though.

Boat is going to need to some SERIOUS cleaning!

Lake looks different during sunrise!

So we got a 9 footer first. Pulled in a new record for my cousin... 2nd was 11 feet 7 inches and ~500 pounds! Quite the beast! The gators definitely look and feel like a dinosaur. Just prehistoric! Was a great trip!
