    damn, dude.
sorry to hear you have to take on your dad's problems.
it looks like a neat home and sounds like you had a lot of memories there.
but chances are no more would have come from it, and the fact that it's no longer in your guys' possession shouldn't diminish those fond memories.
You still going to school? If you've got a place there, then shit, that's "home" for the time being..
Maybe think of it as a forced step towards independence..

I can list at least 11 e30's that I've had to pass on because the money would not be there. Looking at the pictures of that house, I can see how your dad must have gone to Ikea and maxxed out the silver American Express. Your sob story is what EVERYONE is going through in this period with our economic situation.

It always seems to me that liberal artist types are the most likely to overextend their credit burden beyond their acceptable realm.

If you learn anything from this, become fiscally conservative. And, you're still a youngin', this is just a speed bump, but if you wallow in it, you will never break free of it.
I just thought I'd clarify to you that, my parents at one point were doing well, and my dad made the majority of the furniture. Some bits were collected by my mom who had a legacy of things she willed to myself, and my sister. which were not bought. See my mom died when I was 12, that was 9 years ago. She bought that shit almost 15 years ago when there was such thing as an economy. Im not taking what you said personally, because it was just an igorant statement. My dad didnt buy anything for anyone, hhe just used my social security to put food on the table, and pay the bills thats about it.

Most of the debts were acquired thrtough my sisters expensive Ballet school, my dad neglecting to get a job, poor financial planning, neglecting to take advice. Being too smart for his own good, and once again, neglecting to do what people told him to do.

and I bet stereotyping my dad as a liberal because he is an artist makes you feel better about our situation, but really, it is once again a ignorant statement. If you really want to get down to the nuts and bolts, he was in favor of mcain, and considers himself a libertarian. he's a little spacy for this world but he's fucking intelligent. If it wasnt for the paint fumes he worked around his whole life I bet he would have listened to people. But in reality what I or my family believe in should have nothing to do with whether or not bills are paid on time.

and I will never be fiscally conservative, nor liberal. The government already enslaves enough people through media pushing your opinions in one way or another for the purpose of big bucks. niether party is right...ever.. It's wierd you mention the fact that liberals make the mistake of credit debt, when conservative govt wants to decrease taxes, and spend money that they don't have.... sounds awful like credit debt. If govt wants to increase taxes, then it can spend more, cause it has more to do with.

Also, I doubt his dad squandered the money on the house. It appears to be a time capsule from the 1970s.
technically it was "midcentury modern" ;)

and you are right. the furniture was made by my dad.
except the haywood waykfield, that was my moms collection.

sounds like another situation that you'll bounce back from... from the beginning of the story it sounds like you're a pretty scrappy individual as is. Not to belittle the pain, but I'm sure you'll pull through.

Also, being "fiscally conservative" has nothing to do with political affiliation (that's who you vote for, if you needed the exlanation.)

Things can only get better from here. Later in life you will have an even nicer house to live in. Keep looking forward.
