I would take an evo X. It is all wheel drive and can more than likely kill an m3, especially an e46. Also e46s are piles of shit, they caught absolutely no engineering. Now an e30 or e90 m3 that is a different story but that is not what the topic is.

I have a friend with an evo x, boost controller and dyno tuned at 310whp, burnt up the stock clutch about 300 miles after that lol. Its black and dropped and looks good imo, but I would rather have the m3 over it.
