Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'll give it a shot.
I've been wanting to be able to make styrofoam signage for a long time. I made a cutting table a few years back, which was handy, but not great. I know there are machines for this but really damn expensive.
The basic idea is to buy a cheapo plotter off ebay (preferably used), so that I don't have to build the whole thing and I would fab it to work with styrofoam desks.
The thing I don't know is what kind of laser will be able to nicely cut through stfm, 500mW-1W? All I can find on youtube is people burning matches and stuff. I know a lot of testing will be involved but I want to be pretty sure on the laser.
