Sprint is making quite the comeback. My guess is, because of their business accoutns and clientale, they were raked out of the mud and had some nice investors make sure they dont go under.
Their customer service rocks too.
Fuck AT&T. Even when they were Cingular, they sucked. I ended up paying them almost a thousand dollars back in teh day because of roaming shit and account errors out of my control. They were relentless getting that G from me.

I love my sprint service, And my Evo is the shit. I had a Hero for a short period and it was nice but much slower on 2.2 and the 3/4g service in awesome in Austin, We also have a group that does free WiFi all over the city so that is nice aswell.
Fuck Iphones.
I love doing the side by side comparo on why the Evo is so much better than a Iphone 4.

lol @ people saying sprint is "making a comeback". I love the sprint phones out right now, epic 4g and the evo 4g. But honestly, they aren't improving their service or anything, its that people are FINALLY noticing AT&T's shitty ass service and with options other than iPhone they don't have to stick with it. Who knows what the game will be like when everyone is actually using 4G ( LTE, not what sprint is calling 4G) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4GOriginally posted by george graves
Are you kidding me? That nerd doesn't even know how his dick works, let alone a car.

a. 55 fps in anything 2d, including just swiping around in the interface.
b. about a 20% boost in overall performance.
c. bloatware free
d. I can install ANY app, regardless of what Sprint has to say about it.
e. can have wifi hotspot in both 3g and 4g without having to pay the $30 a month if I wanted to.
[EDIT] f. forgot it also unlocks more finger input options compared to stock kernel. Stock is 2, netarchy is 3 or 5 depending on screen you have.
I can also take screen shots (needs root) to show how fucking fast my interwebs is:
Amazing..

I'm posting this because the UnrEVOked post doesn't really give any instructions. Its an easy enough root, but I know I've been there before and even the simplest things can be...
This is it, the big daddy, the mother of all mothers. This fully unlocks nand (in a way that Sprint/HTC cant relock it but you could if you wanted to) and installs a rooted ROM.
The big thing is NAND unlock and installing a recovery software. Recovery is basically a fully unlocked bootloader. Once you get that on there then its like a computer. Boot into it and you can install any OS or modification you could ever dream of.
This is the current version of the software I personally am running (although the sky is the limit). I just prefer the vanilla because I know HTC has tested the shit out of it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...91&postcount=1
And that ROM is good, its got HTCs most recent improvements including the abolishment of the 30fps cap (that they got from the open source community). It installs the HTC stock kernel which is better than the original 2.2 one but I still prefer this one:
He has a slightly newer build (I am on 4.1.8bfs) but this one has been utterly flawless. Everything works as it should (camera, 4g, tethering) that I havent really worried about upgrading. Touch tracking and overall performance is still better than the "improved" stock HTC kernel.
And so you basically do things in this order:
ROOT -> install that updated ROM or whatever ROM you want -> install the kernel. Its as easy as choosing "install zip from SD card" once you have Recovery installed.
As for Apps: ShootMe, Chrome to phone (and chrome extension), Goggles, Root Explorer (gotta pay but its the best for removing the sprint bloatware), Titanium Backup, Trillian and Wireless Tether for Root Users (2.0.5pre9, probably gotta get it from code.google.com).
*this information is as-is, no warranty. While its hard to brick your phone if you follow the instructions I cant be responsible of you do because you could.*
[EDIT] Also make sure and get on the market and actually search for google apps. Some have updates that arent automatic and the updates are huge. Like Maps and Voice Search, the new versions make Garmin obsolete.Im now E30less.

Also, http://www.goodandevo.net/
Its kind of just some chick's blog but she picks out the high points in the stuff XDA is doing and basically spoon feeds it to you. That way if you (like me) struggle to hang with the hundreds of posts of nerdspeak just to get to the link to some software you need.Im now E30less.

That's what I'm using as well, just didn't know if Dolphin/Skynet/Xscope were worth it.
Won't worry about it then.
Other must have apps?
I've been reading up on rooting the phone, still not sure if I want to do that or not. I really don't want to end up constantly "tinkering" with the phone to get it right, to match this Kernel with this ROM and such.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com
