lets see drake is shit. lil wayne is also arguably shit. dr dre doesnt write. neither did eazy e. how dare anyone list kanye, he is the garbage of all garbage.

most of the people everyone is listing is mainstream garbage.
which is fine except you are all either forgetting or just do not know of the true greatest rapper alive.

RAKIM. he is considered by so many to be the best that it might as well be a fact, this includes the opinions of true artists that are in the game in the past and currently.

    anyways.

    RAKIM
    KRS-one
    Tupac
    B.I.G.

ill just keep it at 4.

big l, biggie, mos def, pun, rakim

so many people who had so much influence and made great contributions in different ways. chuck d, guru, can't really make a top list.

and to those who included eminem; he was revolutionary in his time; the language he used (profanity and subject matter) came out at a time when it wasn't really acceptable, people forget that because it was like 13 years ago. Now we're all desensitized to it. I wouldn't put him on any top list though. he could be good but he always uses these carnival beats and sings like a pop star.

Whose arm is this, I must have cut it off at the pharmacist who refused to renew my 7 prescriptions of darvosets

I'm all for dropping an acapella to chop a fella to mozarella worse than a helicopter propeller

better call the fire department i've hired an arsonist to set fire to your carpet and burn up your entire apartment

that kind of stuff was cool. his album stuff sucks.

It's expected.. anyone who listens to underground is "cool" and thinks most mainstream is crap.

Anything close to "gangsta" rap, I'm probably not going to like. In general it's just a bunch of prententious "liars" talking about being harder than they really are, and life in the streets. Hence why I don't list Dr Dre, Ice cube, BIG(maybe most overrated of all) etc.

I don't think any of my artists put out mindless crap (other than a single or two). If you can't relate, or just don't like the message they put out that's fine.

BTW soulja boi is the garbage of all garbage ;)

                              Some great lines.

Em alway's has great freestyle/battle shit but i could never really dig anything after Eminem Show (the one before Encore?). Definitely not top 5 worthy but definitely honorably mention as a pioneer.

Here's the title song from their Gangstarr's Moment of Truth CD. Always sending a message is what makes Guru a good emcee.

                              Some guud shit from NBN
