Well it all comes back to what texting is and how people are now a days. It's still really impersonal, even when you're having a personal conversation via text. Second, people don't want/too lazy to talk to people and always would like to avoid any 'complications'. Texting is a perfect way for weak people to do that. I don't have text messaging and even though I'm missing out on all the 'conveniences' I feel better for it.
