My friend and I decided to rake a weekend trip to Reykjavik Iceland over the summer and finally went this past weekend. Even with the 7.5 hour flight and only two and a half days there, it was so worth it. We got lucky with great weather, just above freezing and crystal clear skies for the most part. All we really had time for was wandering around the city and taking a northern lights tour. We also made the obligatory stop at the Blue Lagoon on the return trip to the airport. Sure it's a tourist trap but it's well worth a visit. If you ever thought of visiting Iceland I wouldn't think twice about it.....just go! The people were some of the nicest I have ever encountered in my limited travels abroad. I can't wait to plan a longer trip and explore more of this wonderful country. Here's a few random pictures we took.

Of course! She greets all the incoming flights upon arrival. If you ask nicely I hear she will even give you a ride to your hotel.
I flew out of Sea-Tac, direct to Keflavik. It may have been closer to 8 hours but wasn't any worse than O'hare to Heathrow. The return flight is the head trip. Left there at 5pm and landed back home at 5:30pm the same day.Comment

I guess since it's so far north, it's a shorter flight also.
What was the ticket price, if you don't mind me asking. Sea-Tac is close to Portland.Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.Comment

I bought a "budget" package through IcelanAir and it cam out to about $1250 for airfare and two nights accommodations after all the taxes and fees. That was for the both of us so it's not really that bad and was worth every penny.
The weather right now is around freezing but was still comfortable with a hat and jacket. we had early days so never had a chance to experience the nightlife, but it is supposedly top notch.Comment

That can't be right. Flying left to right you gain time, fly right to left and you lose time.
When I go back home its like -17 hours so even with a 12 hour flight, I get there before I took off. But my return flight I always lose a day.a light will shine down from somewhere, it will light upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will say to yourself, "I have to r3v."Comment
