he's probably asking an example of what a picture looks like shot by a full frame dslr like the Canon 5d, etc.. as opposed to a cropped frame dslr like the rebel xti, xsi, etc...

This is what happens when you have to use the word probably when explaining the word choice of others on the internet.

Anyways, these are each the first pics that show up when I google what the OP asked:

^^^ that about sums up this thread.

What the fuck? Are you knew at this? Have you not seen all the great photography here on r3v? Why the fuck would I goto a Camera forum where people jerk off to their equipment like you to your next door neighbor's husband?

Yea I want to know if there is a difference in the actual pictures themselves (not just size) between a full frame (EOS 5D) and a non full frame (EOS 20D) DSLR. Lets say they both had the same ISO and shutter speed, f stop and so on. I get one is cropped and one isnt so where would this be of advantage to me. Im trying to see if I want to upgrade from a D50.

The only meaningful difference at this point is low light performance. Likewise, if low light performance is really meaningful, go with Nikon as they've stuck to their guns with big pixels.

The depth of field will be narrower with full frame (can be good or bad). FF camera also usually have a larger viewfinder. I don't really know much about Canon gear and especially the older stuff so I can help you on any specific differences between those two sensors.

Well unless you take into account the lens being used and the aperture a picture set is going to be about useless.

Not true. Plenty of 'camera guys' on this forum.

Not entirely true. f/4 @ 100mm 10 feet away on a FF camera will not look the same as f/4 @ 100mm 10 feet away on a APS-C camera.

OP the FF vs Crop really isn't just which is better. The body you choose needs to lean more towards what you are shooting as opposed to which is better. So are you shopping and want some guidance or just asking to ask?

True. I left it out because at this point, you just buy lenses to match. It's not like even a couple of years ago when the lens lineups didn't match. And while it is true that it's easier to get a bit more reach with an APS-C sensor, I figure that's more than canceled out by the lower ISO you'll be forced to shoot at.

I love my APS-C camera though. SHooting mostly automotive and shooting motorsports for media outlets the speed from them is more useful than the better high ISO capabilities. It really matters more what you are going to be shooting(the when, where and what).
