What the fuck? Are you knew at this? Have you not seen all the great photography here on r3v? Why the fuck would I goto a Camera forum where people jerk off to their equipment like you to your next door neighbor's husband?
Hahaha! I'm actually a 'camera guy' myself. I just had to be an asshole. I thought thats what R3V was for?? This is what you need though.

Yea I want to know if there is a difference in the actual pictures themselves (not just size) between a full frame (EOS 5D) and a non full frame (EOS 20D) DSLR. Lets say they both had the same ISO and shutter speed, f stop and so on. I get one is cropped and one isnt so where would this be of advantage to me. Im trying to see if I want to upgrade from a D50.
on a FF your pixels are larger, better low light performance(less noise in photos), generally better colour and etc.
However FF is slower than APS-C because of the extra processing time needed you'll find fps is a lot lower.
for instance the canon 5d Mk2 is only 4fps. However, the 7d is 8fps (utilizes 2 digic4 processors).
So for fine art -5d
for sports and actions - 7d (also 7d gives you an extra 1.6x magnification which helps for your telephoto sport photos)
Also when you purchase the expensive L glass and you use it on a FF you're actually utilizing all of the glass, whereas on aps-c you dont use all of the glass from the crop factor.
Not entirely true. f/4 @ 100mm 10 feet away on a FF camera will not look the same as f/4 @ 100mm 10 feet away on a APS-C camera.
OP the FF vs Crop really isn't just which is better. The body you choose needs to lean more towards what you are shooting as opposed to which is better. So are you shopping and want some guidance or just asking to ask?
why would f/4 or not matter? it's really only length.
FF is always 'better' (arguably) if you have the money, but to be honest, the lens selection for crop bodies is larger.
