Talk me out of buying a jetta sportwagen tdi

Alright I am thinking about buying the wife a new sportwagen TDI. It has great standard features, and great mileage. I know it will be slow, ugly, and handle average. But it will get mpg's.

I am looking at getting the base model with the DSG as the only option. Talk me out of it or give me a better car for the price. My only concern is HPFP but it seems like this only occurs in a small percent. Also does anyone know about VW extended warranties?

I am looking for a car to last 10 years and be DIY able in the future.

      Get one. Just lower it.

      Current economy record is 58mpg.

Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

The only reason I can give for not buying it is having a monthly payment committment. Otherwise, it's a great car. If I were in the market for one, I would get the Sportwagon too. Hugely practical and frugal.

          Get it. /thread.

As an owner of a passer 09 Jetta I can say these cars are above the competition in fit and finish. I tried to talk the wife into a wagon but she does not share my love for wagons.

VW is trying to take their NA market to new heights. they are doing a marvelous job as the new Jetta is getting even better reviews.

this is a thread to sway you from buying????? uh new car prices, blah. though we got 3% finance through VW.

Why not wait a couple months for the new Fiat 500? A fully loaded one is like 18k and gets awesome gas mileage and it's an awesome looking car.

Give it a few more month after that and you'll be able to pick up the wide body 500!

my brother has a tdi wagon and my dad has a tdi sedan with dsg...i owned a 06 gli with dsg and had zero problems with it after 33k miles.
my bro's has 17k on it now with no probs, and my dads has 12k with no probs..you can run your finger around the exhaust tip and get no soot...

these are great cars, and are not as sluggish as you would think. i would drive one and you may be pleasantly surprised.

and looks wise, they can be made to look pretty good with minor mods..

I'm really tempted by the TDI sportwagon myself. If my wife's Impreza OBS wasn't such an awesome car I'd be at the VW dealer tomorrow picking up a 6-speed diesel wagon.
