X-Box or PS3?

I want to buy a gaming console for my home theater. I have done some reading about both of them but still can't decide. Since I don't have any experience with them can anyone tell me the pros and cons?

Well the only good thing about PS3 is that it comes with blue ray. If you ever wanted to game with it you are limited to a select title of games. Mostly racing and RPGs.

IMO the 360 is better for media in every way but having blue ray built in. It also CRUSHES the PS3 for GB 250 vs the 25 PS3 comes stock.

Here is the other thing, Xbox is free to join XBL(xbox live) but to PLAY with others you have to be a gold member. It is 50 a year or 25 for a 3 month. The difference between XBL and Ps3 online is microsoft makes sure you are taken care of. They crack down on cheaters and the experience it just simply BETTER.

I have only played PS3 online a few times with a friend, it just seemed like you are alone. XBL you make friends and have fun playing the games. I have been on XBL for 6 years, never second thought about switching systems.

In the end it is all about what YOU are looking to do with it.

theres arguably better competition on XBL for most games. Plus, Xbox 360 you can get the kinect. Its wicked cool. I was working a demo at a Justin bieber concert a week ago, and its awesome technology and wicked fun.

PS3 has more than 360 and IS a better cost-benefit. Xbox finally got built in wireless (about fucking time), PS3 has always had it. I have my computer connected to my computer via wireless and it will play all the vids, pics, music off my computer through my ps3. No need for ghey 2 AA batteries like xbox has, PS3 has always had rechargeable controllers.

Buy a Xbox 360 slim 299.00 and a blue ray(wasted money IMO) if you REALLY need it. Wii blows except for playing shitty graphics with friends. Now Xbox has Kinect so Wii style games are taken care of. But now the graphics are better than N64.

So here is the list:

360 Slim(250GB, 120Hz)
Blue ray if you want to waste money
and Kinect if you want Wii interaction type games.

PS3 is the best blu ray player on the market, bar none. For home theater that' the way to go for blue ray, but for overall media, the 360 is better. Between XBL, Netflix, Media Center, it has everything you need.

For gaming, Xbox has a significantly larger selection and variety. I don't care about wireless connectivity as I much prefer to hardwire for gaming. Rechargeable batteries for the controllers are cheap, so the AA argument is a moot point.

XBL vs Playstation Network. XBL has been rated as the best online gaming platform overall, better than any gaming console or desktop environment. It's integration with marketplace, chat rooms, online media content and gaming all in one is unmatched across the console and PC world. Playstation network...well it's really fun for Little Big Planet (still one of my favorite games).

Kinect vs Move. Both have their pluses and minuses. Move has a more accurate tracking system since it's only quantifies a few minor points. Kinect requires enough open space to read your movements accurately. Games are about the same for both. Kinect: "you are the controller", Move: has the ridiculous looking Sony version of a Wii controller. Overall, I prefer the Kinect because of its integration with the rest of the console. Media integration is limited to what's downloaded from the marketplace BUT expect a software upgrade fairly quickly that works with all media.

I also prefer the look of the new 360 slim over the bulky PS3 and original 360.
