Very sorry to hear. I didn't even cry when my Mom died, but I sure did when Tex had to be put to sleep.

It doesn't seem wrong, for some reason.

I just had to put my little dog down a few weeks ago. He was a Malteese and Yorkie mix, about 7 pounds, and the best-natured dog I've ever meet. My wife and I really loved him. He was only 3 years old, got hit by a car and broke his back; we had to put him asleep too. RIP Hunter.

I'm sure you've done everything you can. Sometimes it is best to let them drift off to sleep peacefuly and with some dignity.
That's got to even tougher when they haven't had a full life.

Man my heart goes out to you. My dog is 13 yrs old. Her hearing has already started going and now so is her sight. I am sure it is tough to let them go, I know it will be when my dog's time comes.

Yes! It may seem a little morbid, but you will regret not petting him and helping him be calm. Its hard, I know, I held my little dog as he died

I had to do the same thing a few months ago.

You should go in with him, you need to see it through to the end. You may regret it if you don't.

dude this sucks, its a rough trip to the vet to say the least.

I dread the day I have to put any of my buddies down (my 2 cats and Dog). I didnt didnt cry when my Dad died or my mentor my GPA passed, but when I lose a pet, I am like a woman watching a life time movie.

                            That sucks bro.

Maybe this will help - the procedure happens really fast. It's just a shot and they go to sleep. Very peaceful. Nothing to be afraid of.

Much like HELLABAD, I don't have anywhere the emotions when a human dies as I did when I had to put down my Shepherd and Newfy.

Let the tears flow, and remember the undivided love he/they gave you during their short lives.

I'd much rather hang with my dogs than most humans...

Sucks man! Sorry about it. Like everyone else said it's possibly the worst feeling ever. I still get a little girly when I look at pictures of the Great Dane we had as I grew up. My siblings are quite a bit older than me so he was like my brother. Go in with him. We had to have someone come to the house to do it because we couldn't get him in a vehicle since it was just my mom and I. He had really bad hips and just started getting really old. Good luck man, just know it's better than letting him continue to suffer.
