I see they went back to Spain for showcasing the car again. So how long do they plan to keep the E82 around before we get a new 1er.

What is the dollar amount for the 1M?

Wonder what the Stig will be able to do with it.

Now that I've seen every angle, I can surely say I don't like it at all. It looks tall and narrow, but obese at the same time. The huge tires and high stance make it laughable. It's like a Rav4's smaller sibling. I can't believe they're still using those gay antenna fins.
I bet a thousand internet moneys that the door handles are fake aluminium. The suade door grips will be ruined within a year of daily driving. There's too much of the suade and it looks terrible combined with all the plastic. The orange stiching completes the "fake Ferrari" look.
The "Powered by BMW M" sticker is just a bitch slap in the face for any M enthusiast. Since when is "M Power" too little information? What will it say in the future models? "This engine has been developed by BMW with the help of the m division ©"? Will it be an Avery paper label next time?
It seems like a good gift for a girl's Sweet 16 though.

In some ways i kind of agree. Especially with the motor. It's so disappointing looking... A turbo M? That thing needs an N/A motor with itb's and some subtle M touches.

Don't like any m after e36 then for subtle touches and don't look at the x5M or x6M about turbos..... M stands for marketing, sooner people realize this then the more accepting people will be.

When I look at this car I see a lot of lines and creases and slots that don't mean anything, like a fucking Pontiac Grand Am. And something about the angle of the rear window into the trunk lid says "spoiled snotty bitch".

I suppose I'd like to take it out and teach it a lesson.

What the hell were you guys expecting? It's a 2012 model... people expect luxury when shelling out $45k.

If BMW had never produced the E30 M3 and released it today, 90% of them would sit on the lots.

BMW isn't going to make a tin-can car anymore...

And yet they say those slots actually DO serve a purpose (on the bmw). I do have a bone to pick with ANY car that has fake vents (here's looking at you ford, dodge). Heck, most of the e30s with "brake ducts" don't have them hooked up to the backing plates. And then there's that purposeless bump on the hood. But hey, they sure do look cool.

I believe BMW sold the rights to "M power" a few years ago and it is no longer seen on any car, instead just a simple ///M badge.

the new M3 has no brake ducts at all and suffers tremendous brake fade, I have seen the pistons in the calipers warp. ///M is for marketing now more than ever.

I love valencia orange, kinda makes me think henna red wanna be... ? I'm not sure how I feel about this thing. The interior is cool I guess, but I think would have preferred M colored stitching over orange. The engine bay looks retarded, and whats with that badge? After I see it in person I'll have a real opinion. And it needs a drop.

The nail, you hit it on the head.
The world is so different than it was in 1989 when the E30 M3 was new. We all wish M would really go back to its roots, light weight, NA, ITBs etc.. But they just don't make them like they used to. That is the reason we all love the old product - We can't get it any more. I'm sure half of us would buy an E30 M3 brand new if it were an option today.

Our kids will be looking for 1Ms in 15 years. It will be the same case. No one knows what the future holds but I know for sure its not going to be the original M we are looking for.

seems to me you could hook up some ducting pretty quickly.

And yes, it does seem that Marketing is bigger than ever, and before you know it, kids won't learn to drive on anything that doesn't have ABS/DSC/DCT/ESC/BOR/ING, and driving purity will be reserved solely for the true car nut, who may be relegated to the "extremist" category.

I've noticed at track days, people who come with their new M3/Evo/S4 etc. often get off the track after one or two rounds because they think they can just floor the gas, then floor the brakes. After three or four turns they're all limping with dead brakes while the prehistoric E30 flys by with the rear slightly losing traction, producing a nice "LOL" cloud of tire smoke.

I've never run into brake fade in my e30, even @ HPDEs. Probably due to the way I drive, but I think it's more the poor power:weight. I never get going fast enough to be on the brakes long enough for them to build up that much heat. I also bleed them right before, so the fluid is good and dry. I have seen people get sent home for a poorly prepped car (control appears to dislike it when you spin out twice because you couldn't slow down because you boiled the brake fluid, then took a corner too hot).
I do like to wait until the last possible moment to touch the slow pedal anyways. Braking too long too lightly puts more heat into the brakes and isn't as effective when I could still be on the gas.
