But a 951 is not the same as a 924. I would have no problem with the statement if it were in reference to the VW-powered 924. We might as well say that an E500 is a Porsche, if we're going to group based on production facility.
For the record, I'd be happy with either the Cosworth or a 951.
Yeah, the Cosworth gets my vote with its sticking to boxy lines, not like the confused boxy/bubble lines of the others....so useful with the 4 doors too! Plus the word Cosworth just screams performance.

Wat? No handling? It was the best handling Porsche made at the time.
That's the problem. 924 were shit. 928 were big shit. It only got better with the mid-engine cars... I have tracked my M3 with other 944 Turbo track prepared cars. They are quick in straight line. But handle very poorly in corners (at least compared to an M3).

Porsche didn't make a mid-engined car at the time. 914 is older. ;)
Are you sure it isn't driver related? I have passed vettes, miatas, M3s on track in the 325is track rat. Doesn't mean they don't handle good. Have you driven one? Just curious.
We also know who should shut the fuck up for a clear lack of automotive history knowledge. ;-)
"There are no ownership arrangements -- the two companies are essentially separate. There is, however, a lot of co-operation, as Porsche does consulting work for VW, and Porsche has some access to the VW parts bins. VW has also built some 914s, 924s and 944s for Porsche, and Porsche is to build the Audi 80 RS2 for VW."
914-914/6 were VW projects that ended up officially under Porsche.
"The Porsche 914 or VW-Porsche 914 is a mid-engined, targa-toppedVolkswagen and Porsche from 1969 to 1976." two-seat roadster designed, manufactured and marketed collaboratively by VW and Porsche"
Same fate for the 924. It was developped all along as a VW project, then got canned. It also ended up as a Porsche.
"The 924 was originally intended to be Volkswagen's flagship coupé sports car. Volkswagen commissioned Porsche to design the car (VW project number 425), who developed a fresh chassis and transmission that would work with an existing Audi I4engine"
