Ice Skating...

I live on a lake that freezes over in the winter so I get out a couple times a year. My skates are ccm's that are older than my E30 but they still get the job done. Best thing to do is build up some speed and attempt to jump over peoples docks/wharfs.

used to play hockey 1-2 nights a week in the winter time for something to do. have not been able to in years though. I dont think I have had a set of skates on in about 7 years or so

Lake ice dulls blades SUPER fast. Go get them sharpened, and you'll be surprised how much better control you will have.

you're canadian, that's natural. my buddy is half jamaican but from alberta, calls himself the camaican sensation (dj name). awesome to see dreads flying down the ice (and that kid can wheel).

yesterday I was at a friend's house who's girlfriend is from bancroft, curling was on and her focus couldn't be broken from that.

we never got curling down here really, but being so close to the ontario border (i live maybe 1 minute from the peace bridge) hockey is insanely huge here. on a friday or saturday the turnout of the sabres game has been known to dictate whether the bars will be fun or not.

last night there was some joker looking for a fight, kind of challenged me, then in a lighthearted way said "sorry I'm just looking for a fight, I play hockey box and drink beer." ended up inviting him to my skate (rent the ice every week) ha.

throwbacks. I was so bummed when nike first got into hockey, I was young (25 now) and my parents could never afford new gear for me, always used. it sucked around christmas the year nike came out.

as an adult though I always get myself some nice boots



anyone here coach? I've been a goalie all my life (play out as well) so i've been goalie coaching for about 4 years now (1 volunteer with my old team, 3 years paid for two different companies)

Yea I hear newer nb's aren't like they used to be. My skates last a while tho and since the past 3 years I've been a road warrior I don't play.

nike sold bauer in 08, but I can't say enough good things about the one90's. incredibly light, stiff (force and energy aren't wasted in the stride) and pretty comfortable. new total one is supposed to be 40% lighter than that, haven't worn a pair though
