this is your first ticket right? In Indiana you can pay (it was close to $160 when i did it) an extra fine and it wont go on your record. Thats what they say but ive heard from "people" that it doesnt matter whether you pay or not. You just cant get another ticket for like 6months or it cancels the fine out and you've waisted an extra 70 bucks.

My insurance lady told me your insurance only goes up if they do a check up on your driving record. she said most companies dont so just try not to ever tell them. i had 3 tickets and my insurance never changed. Stayed at $170 full coverage.

Yeah, this is true for most companies. But then you run into issues like I did. One day you get a letter from State Farm telling you they just found out, and are now dropping you ASAP.

2nd ticket. The first one I had my license for 2 months. In Indiana if you're a minor and its your first offense you have to go to court and the judge asks if you wanna do community service, or pay for the ticket. If you do community service and dont get a ticket in the next 6 months, the ticket doesnt go on your record so insurance never finds out. If you get another ticket, you pay for BOTH of them and both go on your record. I did community service.

Go to court. Fight it. Don't just give them your money. Tickets are administrative devices for extracting your hard earned money form you and have nothing to do with safety or whatever else they make up to make it sound better.
