Got a ticket today

Well... up by our airport there is this HUGE S-curve. I usually take this corner around 50mph no problems. Plus its next to the airport, and a big corn field so I can usually see the cars coming and going and what not. Well today I was following a friend, and we had just left somewhere and I was a bit behind so I decided to catch up to her. We were going around the big S-Curve, first to the right and about halfway through the S I see a cop going the opposite direction. I look to see how fast I was going and I was going about 55mph. I BELIEVE the posted speed limit is 30mph (why? I dunno but I'm sure there is SOME reason behind it...) and as soon as I saw him I KNEW I was toast. I watched him in the mirror turn around so before he even got turned around all the way I pulled to the side of the road, shut the car off, undid the seatbelt and got out my license. He asked me how fast I was going, and me being the honest kid I am told him :shock: :shock: :shock: WTF was I thinking?!?!?! He goes back to his car and ends up bringing me back a ticket. Since he didnt clock me, he got me for "unreasonable" speed. He knew I was going fast since he saw my car roll around the corner so... I called the court house to see how much the ticket is, and its only $90.50 and I have to pay it in 30 days. I get paid this next week and I will get about $150 or higher so paying it is not a problem. I'm ready to take responsibility for it. Problem is... I am only 17 (18 in about a month) and insurance will go up. Any ideas on HOW much per month it will go up? We pay around $90 right now for liability on the '91 325i.

That's a lie. At least in Florida. Insurance companies have a loophole to give you a "discount" for never attending traffic school for something related to a ticket. If you do, you lose that "discount" and prices go up.

Happened to me. Never again will I settle for the price and take traffic school. After that I fought two tickets in court and won both of them.

I wouldnt of taken your seatbelt off, I remember my father getting a ticket a while ago and also a seatbelt violation because he took it off to get registration and what not. But who knows

I took the coarse and my insurance didn't do a thing. I'm a big fan of manning-up to your mistakes.

LOL, ive done this before, and the cop did catch up, so i pulled over, and the cop THANKED me for pulling over...LOL didnt get a ticket either, and the cop was a cutey CHP officer... :roll:

funny thing is my fren was following me, and when i drove off from the officer after only like 2min, he thought i was running, so he pulled out into the street after i passed the intersection to "block" the cop...LOL

I passed a cop doing 105 in a 30 once he asked if i had any idea how fast i was going I looked him square in the eye and said I dont know. I got a 100 dollar ticket no points.

Ha... exactly. As far as the ticket, I took that traffic school once in Florida and didn't get any points for doing 80 in a 45 (speed trap in Waldo if anyone knows what Im talking about). I was having an allergic reaction to something, it was 2AM and I was trying to get to a hospital. Fucker still gave me a ticket. I was at the ER 24hrs later when my face swelled out about 2 inches.

In PA on the other hand they don't have a driving school Im aware of. However, when I got a ticket from the State Police I went to the insurance agency and said I had gotten my first ticket (I've been lucky to have my slate wiped clean everytime I move from one state to another 8) ) and she said not to worry about it because unless they do a search on my record the police (local or state) don't report violations directly to the insurance company. I was 26 at the time. My slate is still clean and I have had 4 speeding tickets, each of which I deserved :twisted: All of which I faught or took means to keep it off my record.

Well I talked to my parents last night and my mom said she is glad I am a "man of integrity" lol. My dad laughed and said I shouldnt have told him how fast I was going. Which is true. I shouldnt have, BUT I did so now I gotta man up to it. I figure I'll just pay the fine and deal with it. It sucks, but at least I can say I took responsibility for my actions. :)
