    car for mom

So my mom's '04 Subaru Legacy Wagon's (second) tranny has finally gone, and she's decided she'd rather get a new car than repair this one, so we have been investigating a few options. She's looking for, in order of importance:

All wheel drive (since we live in CT)
Lots of cargo space for hauling (hatchback/wagon - no SUVs)
Good gas mileage (she commutes over an hour, one way, over five times a week)

So we have been looking at various possibilities such as the 3 series wagon, a4 avant, passat wagon, volvo xc70, and of course subarus.

Any other cars that match the criteria we should be lookin at?

Crv. Subarus have terrible gas mileage. I would stay away from them.

A newer subaru seems like a good choice.

You listed all AWD wagons on the market. Just gotta decide which one you like best.

There are many good wagons out there with AWD, but does she really need it? Most people are more than fine with FWD unless she lives in back country or Michigan's UP. As a son, you owe her snow tires.

For this situation, I'd say a Jetta Sportwagen TDI.

i agree some what.... fwd usually isn't too bad.
with that said, i'm going throw a mazda6 wagon into the hat.

But if she does need the awd, then it sounds like you got the bases covered. Now go do some test drives, and shopping.

Caddy CTS is available in both wagon and AWD, and a good solid car

I am going to be buying my customers 02 sequoia from them soon. Stay away from the audis, volvos and subbies my friend trust on this one please.
