I tow plenty but the offroading I do out here isn't anywhere near as rough as you guys see up north. The ol' Avalanche just gave up the ghost, towing way over capacity at way over the speed limit finally snapped that G80 diff.
I've had 4 Titans as family haulers since 04 when they first came-out. They are the most athletic in the ½ ton truck market. Great engine, great steering and a sporty ride / handling balance. I don’t often tow heavy with mine but I have logged a few trips hauling a loaded enclosed car hauler ~ 8klbs, I felt it always performed well, power and brakes were good and it was stable, I’ve towed with the LWB model which will obviously be more stable than the standard wheelbase..
If I was towing regularly I would look to a 3/4 ~ 1 ton domestic, but in the ½ ton segment the Titan is a great choice. The Titan wasn’t designed to go head to head in capacity with a domestic ¾ ~ 1 ton.
I had an 06 with headers, cold air intake and cat-back, it was very quick and sounded great.
Out in the desert the great engine makes the Titan pretty fun for a large truck, the off-road pkg trucks have a e-locker which is a nice option as well. The base models only have a brake LSD which really leaves something to be desired. No mechanical limited slip is available from the factory.

I would recommend the LWB model, it’s a small cost-up but you get the extra bed length as well as a larger (37 vs 26) gallon fuel tank, obviously there is a weight penalty so it looses a little on accel but I do like the trade-off.

I wouldn’t mind a little 6” lift with 35’s on mine, but that won’t happen as long as its our family hauler.

The long bed is entirely too big for me, I live in a semi-urban area and it would be unparkable. Plus I only need a short bed (I haul motorcycles and basic construction materials). I'm on the hunt for an 08 LE 4x4, they're super tough to find around these parts.

Sweet, love the old Ramchargers. They were still making new Ramchargers in Mexico as of a couple of years ago.

Those trucks are hilarious. We used to love going mudding with them in our Toyota's and laughing as their heavy ass Chevy sunk and we just left their asses to rot.

The guys setting those IEDs blasting across the deserts are doing it in Hilux diesels. Its not because of the price of gas, its because a lighter, more simple truck is better for having the shit beat out of it.

OH ya, my 08 long bed is not parking friendly, I was just in Chicago with it for the holidays. It can be a pain to park in congested areas.

Maybe you know this from your research, but if your looking used the 08's and up are the models to get. There was a minor model change for 08, the biggest change being the larger front brakes.

                    Good luck on your hunt.

Man these things are all over Texas. My family had a Silverado and I drove it once, that truck sucked.

And in HS its all the rage to lift them like 2 feet higher and peel out turning out of the parking lot. Bro it up Broseph.

When you don't have oversized, overbuilt equipment, operators tend not to have over-the-top expectations of what they can do, and won't throw them into any situation without thinking.

What trucks do you see crawling deserts and sucking in sand all over Asia, Africa and the middle east?
I guess with the pic I was also trying to show a point: "different trucks for different roles". I'd hate to drive down MSR Bronze circa 2006, or even tow anything over 4k lbs with anything but a full-size.

And from my experience in Ramadi, Fallujah, and eastern Anbar, the Governor and the Sheikhs might be lucky enough to drive a hilux or fj80 land cruiser, but most insurgents are blasting around the desert in a Kia held together with duct tape. On occasion we'd be self-recovering a stuck MRAP or Humvee, while we watched a car-full of Iraqis drive right past us...

I've no dog in this fight, never owned a pickup of any sort, but for my personal consumption, it would be a full-size. What the rest of the world drives around, wouldn't really enter my decision process.

Back on topic, "bro" trucks are gay.

On a further note to this topic it seems my xmass bonus this year is a NEWER work truck. I guess I am making them enough cash with that OLD POS I posted earlier, to get a better Rig.

Seems its gonna be a 06 Dodge Power Wagon Kinda a factory "bro truck" from some of your definitions. Not real sure if its a cummins yet (god I hope so) but the gassers got a 4:56 gear set so it might be alright.

I love my truck, '01 Ram 2500 with a mildly modded Cummins. Next mod will be the VGT Holset turbo retrofit with Fleece Performance standalone controller. I don't get gasser trucks, but diesels are just plain awesome. If you haven't tooled around in a modded diesel give it a try. 55psi is very cool.

Besides, I use mine to haul cars, get plywood and steel for projects in the garage and house, and more. It has alot of utility, gets pretty darn good mileage for its size (~19mpg), and is alot of fun to drive.

The biggest drawback I see is how much more expensive, in general, everything is. The truck itself, parts, fuilds, etc... But it's worth it for me.

From what I've seen of the power wagon, it is a well set up truck that you can actually use off-road. Those that bro it up probably won't spend for the power wagon in the first place. I'm pretty sure they're gas trucks (which I don't get).
