I vote for a Geo Metro with bad brakes and a lot of play in the steering wheel. Drive it like you stole it bro.

Edit: Seat belts are for pussies bro

    Danny, find a good condition 4-door E36 M3. I'm a staunch E36 hater, but I have always loved the 4-door M3.

I say stick to something you can pay off right away.

Car payments + newer car insurance sucks IMO. Unless you have a good record of course.

I'd take an m5 over an m3 for DD duties. White e39 m5 with the peanut butter interior and I'm sold.

You think it was reliability that killed American specifically GM vehicles, you don't read much do you? They were no.1 manufacturer for 50+ years, while doing that they had the largest employee benefit system built during that time. No company no matter what product they make can afford GM's retiree benefit system. American cars are on par with everyone else.

I say STI over e46 m3.....driven both, the e46 is amazing but not raw enough.

Its dead due too way too many years of people with your stereotype that dont look to what they have done to improve things

Also our economy is total shit as is most of the globes, makes it some what hard to sell cars

Subaru gearboxes are practically made of glass, so I wouldn't be getting an STI.

If the earlier model Evos, (1, 2 & 3) are available in the states that's what I would be getting. Much rawer driving experience than you'd have with the later model Evos. Late Evos have AIDS, driving aids.

EDIT: What about a Celica GT4? AWD rally dominating (in its time) sports car with Toyota's awesome build quality.
