Depends, sometimes very small airports in rural areas are expensive to fly in and out of but the smaller airports in urban areas are ridiculously cheap. I flew from Long Beach, CA to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and back for 250 on JetBlue.

San Jose would be a long ride home from Vegas. Driving there is always fun but driving back always sucks, especially on the weekends traffic can get nuts.

Just take a plane and split the hotel room between buddies at the Excalibur or some shit. The Excalibur kind of sucks but it's not like you're confined to the hotel room.

Heres how I did it for free:

      1.) join the air force
      2.) go to flight school
3.) fly to nellis afb in vegas for training.

Depending on how old you are, this may still be an option.

          Yep, both of 'em.

Driving is usually cheaper, but weekend traffic can get awful. I always drive from here because it takes the same time as flying, but then you have your car when you get there. Best bet is to carpool and split the gas / driving. Failing that, check out bus / shuttle services in your area. It's terrible but it's cheap. How badly do you want to save money?

I am trying to save... But I am going with two other girls who want to fly. So I guess I have no choice. Just wondering what the cheapest flight and hotel packages were.

Like others have said, you can save money if you drive. I've driven from SJ to Vegas a few times, and while it does suck, it can save you money. Also, if you drive there, you will save a lot of money on cabs, shuttles, busses, or walking all the way down the strip.

If you do drive, don't speed on Hwy 58 as you're passing Edwards AFB. It sucks making a few hundred dollars at the craps table only to have to pay even more back for a speeding ticket.

Also, there's no need to go to some shitty off-strip motel. I've stayed at Excaliber for ~$30/night. I also stayed at Luxor for ~$35/night if I recall correctly. It's been a while since I've stayed at Circus Circus, but they are even cheaper than the others.
Staying at cheaper Casino obviously isn't as luxurious or fancy, but it leaves you more money to play around with gambling/strippers.
