Basically used my tripod right in front of my couch, set the ISO (canon :p) all the way down and put my shutter speed to 10 seconds or so, use an LED flashlight on my iPhone to point at my subject (keep in mind my room is pitch black with just the tv on.) then as soon as the shutter snaps turn off the LED, then set up where I wanted to begin the light painting and turn on and off the LED and make my movements with the light facing the camera.
Pretty straight forward with a little bit of trial and error, super fun thoughComment

Oh and the dotted ones are achieved with a strobe setting on the iPhone, I find those are the most unpredictable an fun to tinker withComment
