Early reports are positive, in that no loss of life is known of. Around Mission Beach copped it pretty hard. In Innisfail they're saying 90% of buildings are significantly damaged. Cairns escaped the worst of it apparently. Not a lot of detail coming out of the general area yet. Power is out. Mobile phone network is out. And yeah...it's still hanging around as cat 3, which is a problem.
Was told not to go to work, power has been out almost all day in Austin, no snow or ice, just cold at a staggering level.
Thanks for keeping us updated from....... Texas!? Go make your own thread.....

Got phone reception. On generator power. And yeah all ok e30 is all safe sorry for those who had dibs. And yup cairns got spared the full force but we still copped 240kmhr winds and rain no major damage reported as yet just slot of trees down small things. Heard varying reports saying cardwell/ mission beach were the cyclone's eye hit is basically gone with upwards of 90% damage. My thoughts go out to anyone down there.
And drew yes it's still a cat 3 100kms inland. The houses inland that far aren't cyclone rated because cyclones arent meant to get that far without loosing strength so I hope their prepared
Cheers Mariano was an interesting ride to say the least the power was dropping in an out 2 hrs before it actually hit. It picked up a tree 4th in diameter and dragged it Down the road about 10 Mtrs
