Didn't read any replies, but if it hasn't been said, parts prices are SKY HIGH.

And if you ever need the clutch replaced, I've read it's nearly a shop-only job with a price tag north of $2000 (parts and labor).

Thank you that is what i was shooting for. ;) And dont forget the 928s4 928gt and 928gts.

But like i referred to a vette comparision. The vettes now are not real vettes now because the transmission is in the back instead of behind the engine. I was not questioning your automotive knowledge but i know what you where talking about. I love 911 base body cars (930's and 935k's) i just dont like the way they handle in a street car. All the weight over the back and only the fuel tank in the front and when you have a full tank and empty tank the car changes in the handling dept on you plus they have alot of over and understeer compared to most other cars. You have to have a really good feel and understanding for these cars on street and really on the track when driving them in race conditions.

I see where your going, but why? Thats like saying a 325ix isnt a BMW because its AWD... in a way. It was made by porsche, so why would it not be a real porsche? Its a different porsche.

Tim, You said a porsche isnt a porsche in your mind unless its a rear motor/trans vehicle correct? I was stating that alot of people didnt like the fact of the newer vette's are front engine/rear trans layout and people say that they are not real vette's either. And alot of other stuff as well besides that.

Except that the transaxle vette stuck around for the last 25 years and there is no reason to change it. the front engine porsche died in 95 with the 968. But, now that I look at it, the FR Porsche lived from '76 to '95, which is only just shy of 20 years.

Also, the BMW comparison, they didn't sell/make that many AWD E30s. They killed it for the E36, and then brought it back for the E46. Now we all love AWD E30s.

I don't know. When I think of the core of Porsche, I think of wide MR or RR cars, not FR. It might just be me. And again, I'm not discrediting the FR cars, because I know they are fun and great cars.

In fact, I got caught up looking at hot 944s for the last hour.

                        I still vote E30.

They drive really well, but they were originally designed by Audi, and it shows in how the car is built and how terrible it is to work on. I will never do a clutch job in a 944 ever again.
