it's a double standard. If they want to celebrate it, they can do so together without me, though I do not condemn them for being different from me. They are being insensitive to others by flaunting their orientation around and hypocritical by pressuring people to accept, else they will be labeled intolerant. there is a black history month, a hispanic heritage month, chinese new year etc. but there is no european heritage month is there? anything along those lines is racist. I don't see how any month not dedicated to "minorities" is a white month.

I accept people for who they are. Theres a lot of people of every race and sexual belief out there. There should be shit for everyone quite honestly. My high school had a white club because there was every other ethnicity but it. Whites are a minority in my high school. The club was revoked. Thats wacist!!!!!!

I've oddly ran into the opposit, you give someone that just said "Hey, I'm gay" a "cool, so?" and they flip out. Or maybe, if people didn't feel the need to make a point about how marginalized (and "abused") "certain" minorities where, it wouldn't be such a big deal and matter quite as much? mmm.

I think the girl should be free to express her opinion as she wishes. I don't see anything wrong with it.

My high school was primarily east indian, as in around 60% or so. At one point a large amount started wearing "Brown Pride" and "Punjabi Power" shirts. The staff ignored it, when a friend of mine wore a shirt that said "white pride" she got kicked out of the school for racism. How is that fair? You can't promote equality, but punish select few for having an opinion

My main issue with the girl's stance is not the idea of 'straight pride', its that she is of the opinion that homosexuality is fundamentally wrong, and feels threatened by the presence of gay pride. You can tell based on her statements, 'shoving their opinion down my throat', and that she thinks the whole acceptance week was highjacked in the name of gay pride. Was that really the case?


Ideally, no one would give a fuck. The problem is it's still an uphill battle for the LGBT's among us, and therefore they have to (to some degree), make their struggle known. That's where the friction arises, why some people feel threatened, why they feel like a dissenting opinion in being forced upon them. But it almost needs to be, before people realize its truly not under their jurisdiction to claim another's lifestyle wrong.

i couldn't care less if anybody is gay or not. i'm not, but have friends and relatives who are. It doesn't bother me what you do in private to one anothers privates.

this is america, a country that was founded on being free to do whatever you like/believe, as long as it's within the boundaries of the law.

now, as for the situation where that girl got in trouble for wearing a white power shirt, i don't think she did antything wrong. its all about the context. she was simply showing pride in being a white skinned person, where as all the other students wearing shirts that said "brown power" were simply showing pride in their heritage as well.

like others here have said, what makes anyone think they have the right to tell other people how to live? if what someone is doing is not illegal, then stfu and deal with it. you don't have to like it, but in this country you do have to tolerate it.

The girl should be entitled to her opinion however childish it may be. I mean really, straight pride week? That's the kind of crap we came up with in elementary school. "Hey it's tOTaLLy unFAiR that they get their own week every year, I want one too!!"

What's next, celebrating the fact that you're a human being? Majorities don't need to raise awareness.

The division this country has gone thru, dividing one from another until none of us are a part of one is the goal. It's working. Soon there will be no way to get more than three people to agree on something because we've been broken apart.
