Holly Smoke! Now the complete Vid!

if no body or most of you saw the complete footage.

    what a member said:

the Ferrari driver did actually get out alive

a story i read about it said he lost his legs though and sued the race
organisers for letting the race go ahead in such appaling conditions
and he won loads of money

no consellation for losing your legs though

    damn

i'm appalled that the safety crews were VERY slow to respond and even when they did respond they seemed to not care about the drivers at all. do they not have EMT's over there? the medical attention seemed like something from 100 years ago.

      Wow!

I actually gasped when the Ferrari collided with the Porsche. Absolutely heartwrenching with that soundtrack.

        damn....thats insane, and very moving.

i wonder what the truth on the ferrari driver loosing his legs is tho, he was standing, unless they were severly burned underneath the suit...

arent those suits fire-retardant? and if so, the suit would have to be BBQ for him to get severely burned inside no? i say he must be blind, his helmet was smoking, and looked like the mask was melted to his face...

fire-retardent does not mean fire proof. there is a certain amount of time that Nomex can protect you from open flames. Its suprisingly short, like 45 seconds or something.

Was that rain or fog? Were there 2 people in the Ferrari?

fog, and 1 person in the Ferrari IIRC. He won a court case, but nothing like what happened to him...

I saw pictures out there somewhere of the guy. His face was pretty badly burnt. He wasn't a cripple though.

                              Damn...

What kind of screwed up priorities did they have over there? Not only did it take forever for them to get to the poor guy but once they did they just pulled him away from the fire and left him! In any US or European race I guarantee they would have been all over him to see what they could do instead of checking out the car. I can't believe that one guy not only left him there but then helped him to his feet. Any half competent safety official/EMT would have made sure he stayed lying down to avoid aggravating any injuries.
