yes in short they can be good dogs, But VERY high energy, think husky like energy. They are smart and loyal but not very good guard dogs, or even watch dogs for that matter. IME they are like a arctic dog in that regard, they will welcome anyone that will pet them.
get German Shepard dog.
I have always had GSD's and they really are the best dogs. They are part of the lab family. GSP's, Weimaraner, and Chesapeake Bay retrievers. Great smart, loyal, and loving dogs. They are all very high energy up until about 5yrs, then they tend to calm down. Ohh and as pups they will chew on anything and everything that is in range of their mouth.CCW- when every second counts... The police are just minutes away!Comment

Hunting aka: "sporting" dogs were bred to do a job and not be pets. Unless you're some fat girl who'll bask your pet in more attention than is imaginable to most of us I say save your money! ..just sayin' :)
