    Ebay scam?

Ok I just got an email from "ebay". This is basicly what it says:

    Dear eBay customer,

During our regularly scheduled account maintenance and verification procedures, we've detected a slight error in your informations.

This might be due to either of the following reasons:

    1. A recent change in your personal information ( i.e.change of address).
    2. Submiting invalid information during the initial sign up process.
    3. An inability to accurately verify your selected option of payment due to an internal error within our processors.
    4. Fraud Alert - Somone tried to sign in to eBay but not successful.

Please update and verify your information by clicking the link below:

If your account information is not updated within 24 hours then your ability to sell or bid on eBay will become restricted.

    Thank you

    The eBay Billing Deptartment .

My first thought is that its a scam... but it looked real plus if I dont do it I'll loose my account! So i went to the site.... funny its not an ebay site, but its mocked up to look like one!

I give it some thought and then put in my user name and password.
It then fed me some more bull shit and asked me for my email address and then MY FREAKIN EMAIL PASSWORD.. ya its a scam alright. Well I got out of it, but they still have my user name and password so i'll have to change that.

Just a heads up to anyone getting that email.

        Jesus man,

Ebay is constantly telling people that they will never ask for your username and password.

If any of your other passwords for banking, paypal and the like are the same/similar - better change those too.

Yes, I had reasons to believe it was real due to an insident that just recently happend on ebay.

Your biggest clue as you suspected was the fact that it didn't even come form an ebay domain.

Also - remember that www.ebay.WHATEVER.com is not a valid ebay address also...that's a common trick.
