The stock DroidX Froyo ROM is pathetic. Either grab Fission (or some other ROM) or install the rooted release of gingerbread with the new Blur. It is much better

i have a droid x and it was doing the same crap, i rooted it and can now run a laptop teather for free (no extra fees of $40 a month from verizon).

download the bench mark app and youu can see how fast it is running.
a stock droid x with froyo 2.2 runs at 1250.
mine rooted runs at 1672 right now.

the internet tether is faster than my roommate's wireless card too.

I went into the phone store today to buy a new charger, turns out I had an upgrade that had been waiting for me for several months....I now have a new htc evo 4g. It comes with a built in kick-stand which might be the coolest thing I've seen on a phone. So far, it is a fantastic phone!
