Relegion, as a whole, just seems like a sort of ancient control that somehow has made its way into a modern society.

    BE GOOD OR ELSE??

The idea that any super-being has control and then would send his subjects to an eternity of suffering WHILE being considered a loving and understanding god, is ridiculous.

OOO i love Kampus Krusade for Khrist, that ones the hotness
Go familarize yourself with the writings of Immanuel Kant, 18th century German philosopher. His general mentality was: "who can prove that god does or doesn't exist? Live like he does, and you're covered either way. If he doesn't exist, you still lived a good life, and weren't an asshole, nothing wrong with that. If he does, well, then you're good to go"

I've always wondered why people are so bothered by groups like Campus Crusade for Christ. These are some of the most innocous people I've met. Their general message is "don't be an asshole, don't drink yourself stupid, and hold off on banging every slut or fratboy that comes along" I hardly see how people can take offense to a message like that. It always seems to me that the people that have the biggest problem with those guys are the same ones with a real guilty conscience.

Do we need to act as if someone is watching us? Well, society as a whole has proven that we're all pretty much a bunch of douchebags that can't be trusted, so yea, having a deity figure is probably a pretty good idea. From experience, I'd much rather have roomates and coworkers that are raging christians than potheads.

Sadly if you did get pulled over with one of those you would probably get out of the ticket.
      maybe in Kansas you would...
Everywhere outside of Johnson and Douglas county it would probably help sadly. I would Imagine if you go further south into the real bible belt it would help even more, say, Texas, and Alabama the Carolinas.

I kind of agree with you. But I don't need a book to tell me how to not be an asshole. Maybe you think I;m an asshole form here that's ok, it's a forum a place to vent and say whatever you want.

I try to life like a respectable person, not like Jesus. I really don;t see anything wrong with going out and parting and banging slut (as long as they are clean sluts) That is against christanity but don't make you an asshole. Some girls like to have sex, it's thier choice. If they want to have sex with me all the better.

I think I basic idea of chritianity is ok, treat others how you would like to be treated, don't steel ect. but I think it goes to far.

                explain how it's not?
The majority of the world's religions are mutually exclusive. The belief in one generally means that the others must be wrong. Even if you believe in a religion that does not neccesarily disagree with all other religions (polytheism), Muslims, Christians, etc. still say that you are wrong and lost without believing their rhetoric, so how can they be equal?

BTW, I am not a bible-beating redneck Tennessean.

Personally, i think relegion is good for those people whom you mentioned.
Frankly, i dont need a father-like myth shaking a finger and telling me what is right and wrong. You've must have met a different bunch that i have hah...most of the ones i met are extremely closed minded and sometimes intolerant. Then again, this is obviously a small amount of the whole and all im going on is anecdotal evidence...but it is all ive got to go on. It also seems that Campus Crusade for Christ is terrible politcally incorrect...i would love to see a Campus Jihad for Allah but something tells me it wouldnt quite be as accepted.

To me, taking any one relegion and saying THIS IS RIGHT, YOU'RE WRONG, and your going to hell if you dont believe in what i say....is the most arrogant, short-sighted and ignorant comment this side of Betelgeuse 7.

I think its great when i find myself in a polite relegiously oriented conversation with a peer (who is devout in whatever). I ask that if he were born or adopted into another family...be it Muslim..or Catholic or Jew...dont you think you would grow up being a devout muslim, Catholic or Jew. A) they are extremely befuddled B) they agree that they would be. To me, answering B totally makes whatever beliefs they have irrelevant.

but Hey i love Greek and Norse Mythology

If there is a god, i think he will understand that this kid can think for himself though he's still just a product of society..so who can you blame? Sure come to heaven!

Religion is an art of life. It's a personal thing and should not be imposed on others. Be good to yourself and to others. When it starts being used for power and politics then thats where I draw the line. It's funny how fanatics like to quote the bible and the 10th commandements yet they forget stuff like love and respect one another and thou shall not kill.

I totaly agree, I have no problem with people believing strongly in christianity. Thats a good thing. There are rules and ethics above even laws. I can't complain at people for being good people/citizens. Its when I get calls in the morning waking me up from some stupid fucking chrisitan conservative group wanting me to vote some way. Eat my fucking dick, I dont need you CALLING me telling me what you think or what you think that I should think. That leads straight onto people that go door to door come election time and think that they can somehow presuade me. Fuck that, im educated enough to not base my vote on some ass hold that comes up to my door.

Lets discuss those fucking support our troops magnets.

                          I bombed Korea every night.

Well its my same problem with huge election signs and bumper stickers. Do you think that I can who this anonamous person in a large tan SUV thinks about the world?

This whole fake patriotism fad makes me sick. People after 9/11 with like 10' flags flying off the back of their trucks and stuff. Wow you support our country congrats, I would say that most people do. And who dosent "support our troops" Im so against the war in iraq its not even funny but I support our troops. Why dont you go do something useful for our troops besides buying some stupid ass magnet that was made in china. How about maybe buying them calling cards at the post office or something similar. The problem today with americans and patriotism is that its not real. You say it because its the socialy acceptable thing, not because your a true patriot. What was the last thing that you DID for this country of yours? Its nothing like world war 2 and that era where people put forth an effort, like rationing and victory gardens. Today we have freedom fries. Gimme a break.

I dont know why im posting this, its probably hypocritical in its self. w/e

This country takes one step closer to everything we were originally founded against everyday it is soo annoying,

We live in a nation of follower/ sucker ass people thats why credit card company's are in hog heaven these days.

When I'm working at the liquor store there is nothing more annoying then when a person's C.C. gets declined and they are trying to buy booze, I mean fuckin come on I could understand if they were 20 but they are 40 and have a car payment they can't make etc. (CONSUMERISM worse then Communism.
