He said don't work and non of your children or servants should work. So that leaves us with no working on the sabbath. Read the first part of Luke 16 and think about what Jesus is saying about the Sabbath.

And God was not a creation of the Isrealites to one up the Egyptians. Pay attention to your history.

Christianity is not a spin off from Judaism it is the fulfilment of of what Judaism is based on.
So are you saying that the Pharasies altered the 10 Commandments? Pay attention to what/whose history? Have you got writings from those times? Do you know what library a person can visit to learn this "history"? They're not just one-upping the Egyptians; they were monotheistically one-upping everyone.

You missed my point...I'm not trying to talk you out of your beliefs. I was highlighting discrepancies in various religions that preclude me from subscribing to anyone's religion. It doesn't matter to me if you can nay-say "some" of what I posted because you can't nay-say "all" of what I posted. That's why there is no religion on this planet that was handed down by "a" or "any" God. It all has come from men and men are and always will be fallible and will always have they're own agendas.

I'm also not nay-saying all the good that's done "in God's name", but there is also far too much evil that is justified "in God's name". That evil is justified by the very men that claim to be "servants of God" when actually they are nothing more than servants of other men.
No you may not be talking me out of my belief but you are trying to prove that my belief is not true. Saying how much good a religion does but its still a bunch of made up personal agendas isn't far from a full out your beliefs are a load of crap.

And your comment on the monotheist one upmanship doesn't take into account anything prior to the isrealites slavery in egypt.

The pharasies didn't change the commandments they just expanded them with a lot of specific rules about what they did and didn't apply to.

Eh to tired to think anymore, maybe ill post more in the morning. But I realy don't think I have or can say anything to change anyones mind about all this. So i'll just go back and do my best (not very good) and try and live it.

Beliefs really don't have much to do with truth. That's why they're called beliefs, and not facts. Two separate things.

We are saved through faith. If Christ made it so obvious that science or "facts" could prove the religion, we would be forced to believe it. Do you think the law of gravity is just a "belief," or do you accept it as fact because its provable? You must take a step of faith in accepting Christ as your savior. It cannot be cut and dry.

To quote a particular movie, "Religion was fine until they built a "belief" system around it."

This thread was started to spark some debate and some intelligent thought. I gave you my basis for my disbelief in the various religious orders. That is "my" opinion or belief. Is it meant to dissuade you from your opinion or belief? No, it is not. However, it did get you to think about your belief(s) and to give your own counterpoints, thus debate and/or intelligent thought.

I have faith in various things but not religion for the simple fact that no matter where it started or who may have passed on the original knowledge, religion (any religion) has been too warped and modified by the generations of its practitioners for it ever to be a "true" religion. That was the gist and intent of my original post.

Then you are not a true christian. Christians follow the bible which says you have to "keep holy the sabbath." So you are one of those so call christans that pick an chose what fits their life style. I'd label you as agnostic, you beleive in god but not going to chuch.
So basically you are saying that a Christian living in a country where Christianity is forbidden is not a Christian simply because they do not read the Bible or go to church? You are very wrong. There are many different sects of Christianity that have grown out of someones personal interpretation of Christianity but they all share 1 common characteristic, the most important one, and that is the universal belief that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. Mormonism is a perfect example of this. There are many differences between Mormonism and traditional Christianity and many Christians attack Mormons because of their beliefs. In the end, however, Mormons still believe that Jesus Christ is Savior. I never said I didn't believe in going to Church, in fact I am a member of a Church and I just got back from a mission trip with that church. I'd label you as an intolerant Christian extremist. Basically, you give Christianity a bad name and its people like you that are responsible for the division of our country today. America Bless God.
So what are you saying you are Mormon? Labeling me as an intolerant Christian is wrong, I don't believe there is a god. I chose to base my beliefs on scientific facts rather than a fictional book.

So they persecute Christians in Washington do they? You have the ability to go to church this god tells you to in the bible which you chose not to so you willing chose to sin every week, that makes you a bad Christian.

Some of you's are really really confused. It's okay though, some of that will disappear with some maturity and more life experience. I will no doubt be praying for you though. ;)

Funny, I'm seeing a lot of people who aren't very confused at all, regardless of their viewpoint...age and experience notwithstanding.

Funny, I am seeing a lot of people confused regardless of their viewpoint and age. When you are in the forest, you can't see it for the trees. A crackhead doesn't realize he's got a problem until he comes to a crisis of belief. An alcoholic doesn't realize he is hurting himself and others until that same time. Is he any less confused? Nope. He just can't see it. You see?

The latter. Proven through physics regarding the size and speed of rotation of the Earth, as well as its proximity to the Sun and orbiting moon.

In a related matter, "Christian-Science" cracks me up. It's based on the Bible and not scientific research. Their explanation of why the fossil record contradicts 'The Flood' makes me roll on the floor laughing.

Its seems quite clear to me that 'faith' is only a tool for religion to keep its followers from questioning its ideas and guidelines. You are obviously a prime example of the blind follower the Bible's author(s) envisioned.

Fact: The idea of a god or gods came out of people's lack of knowledge about the world around them, and of their fear of that unknown.
