What a remarkable look back in time!!!

Ran across this from another forum.

Its all color Reproductions of Color slides form the latter part of the Great Depression. WOW is all I can say, the focus on Rural life really puts it into perspective of how our grand parents grew up just 2 generations removed form us. Really how far we have come and how lazy we all have gotten, I almost feel guilty.

That was awesome. I wonder how many of those pictured are still around.

We have come far and have yet to see our capitalistic society fail greatly, and we are spread it across the world. I don't think we have become lazy, it's that we are becoming the white collar class of the world. We use our minds more then our physical bodies, just like other developed countries.

I am not going to drag this into a policy debate, but that very mentality is one of the big reasons we are where we are.

Really though its just amazing to see how people used to live. My Grand parents were depression kids. I am very fortunate to have gotten to spend much of my child hood with them and on the farm, so I at least have some of the knowledge they tried to pass on of those times. But when you see pics like these it really drives home some of the stories I have been told.

I love how sweet the government ads used to be, just the artwork in the bonds poster is awesome, nobody is this creative in advertising anymore.

Some of those photos are so good. Not just for their content, but the photography as well. Combined they are quite spectacular.

Awesome pictures, shows how much the world has really changed. I saw maybe 5-6 smiles throughout all those pictures, looks like life was pretty miserable.

The happiest picture of the bunch is of those three guys in the military, the tank crew. Just weird and got damn were chicks busted in the day.

Hottest chick out of the bunch.

these pictures pretty well prove that the "Great Recession" of 2008 has no comparison to 1929.
