Sounds like you simply need to learn how to live with your disorder. I have ADD myself, was on several flavors of drugs during my college years (concerta, adderall, straterra, etc).
I too got sick of popping pills and getting strung out in the evenings. While the medication was incredibly helpful, the side effects really outweighed the pros for me. I found education particularly useful, picked up several books on ADD, read about different ways of coping and the rest is history.
There are several things I do to keep my life in order now... Making lists is a big part of my daily routine. I've always got a notepad on me, and I'm always adding shit to my list and crossing it off when it's done.tasty

My last post was speaking from experience. Sticky notes work well for me. And my calendar on my phone is FULL of shit. And I use Tasko's on my Android for quick notes and lists and PenUltimate on my iPad heavily just to organize my day enough to get through it. Dont get on ADD medication. Its terrible man. Changes you into someone else.

I would START by taking control of your diet. Just because you think you eat "good" doesn't mean that you are eating "good." Getting a salad at McDonalds does not constitute a healthy eating habit.
The next step, is a 28 day metabolic detox. You will eat only fruits, veggies, and rice. No meat, dairy, sugars, nothing. Fruits, veggies, and rice.. oh, and water.
You can supplement your diet with a "detoxifying powder" from Metagenics, called Ultra Clear. It will help with detoxifying your VITAL organs. This is not some bullshit you pick up at GNC.. this is pharmaceutical grade protein, vitamins and nutrients, with none of the filler. Yes it tastes like shit, yes it is gritty, but you will learn to love it.. I promise.
If you seriously want more information on this, contact me and I will help you in the right direction. If you are weak and have little to no self-control and have no interest in helping yourself, then just laugh this off.
By the way, I don't want any money or anything.. just simply offering a different approach and a life-changing experience. I have a background in alternative medicine and am studying to be a chiropractor. My wife is graduating from Everglades University with her B/A in alternative medicine/nutrition. I have taken courses in homeopathy as well, so I'm not just bullshitting you here.Comment

Don't listen to this garbage. This guy is telling you to go on a "metabolic detox diet" (whatever the hell that means), with no sugar, yet he is recommending that you eat rice and fruit which are both loaded with sugars. Also, he claims to be knowledgeable because he has taken homeopathy courses but guess what, homeopathy is BULLSHIT!I would START by taking control of your diet. Just because you think you eat "good" doesn't mean that you are eating "good." Getting a salad at McDonalds does not constitute a healthy eating habit.

The way to stay healthy is to eat tons of veggies, beans, lean meats and fish. If you have to eat carbs then stick to complex carbs and fruits but eat them very sparingly. Certain nuts and oils are ok, but eat these sparingly as well. Cheese and eggs are good but milk is not as it is high in lactose which is a sugar. No soda, candy, or baked goods of any kind. Too much salt and caffeine raises blood pressure so keep these to a minimum. Eating small meals frequently throughout the day helps to keep your metabolism up. A cheat meal once a week is also good for your metabolism and your sanity. Drink a lot of water throughout the day and with every meal. Anything which is highly processed and full of chems and hormones is also bad news. I prefer organic but there is still not a lot of evidence to show siginificant differences between organic and nonorganic foods. I bike to work a lot and have been doing a lot of pushups, crunches and pull ups recently. Structured exercise is really only necessary for those who spend their days working in sedentary environments. Of course it's not going to hurt to exercise, but if you are active for 8 hours a day at work then you ARE exercising. Herbal supplements are bullshit but a multivitamin and some flax oil everyday is pretty helpful. Don't smoke tobacco or drink alcohol but if you must then stick to red wine. Try to keep your sleeping patterns consistent with a full 8 hours a night. Get outside and get some sun and fresh air once and a while. Don't do drugs. IF there is one tidbit of advice that I think is the most important, it's to stay away from sugar. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/17/ma...ewanted=1&_r=1Last edited by LBJefferies; 04-15-2011, 12:12 PM.Comment

You seriously need to go salute the American flag right now, dude.
I was just trying to offer an alternative route for him to go, not start an allopath/homeopath/naturopath debate.
I bet you're the kind of guy with a bald eagle tattooed on his forearm..

H0lmes has a point, ive been doing that (eating 5 small meals a day, no snacking in between but lots of water, all that good shit) and it has definitely improved my focus. Mind you i dont have add and am only doing this for weight loss, but since ive started to eat better ive just felt better in general, in terms of focus and otherwise. Its definitely a start in my mind

I took Adderall for a year in high school for an ADD diagnosis. I had trouble focusing like any 15 year old. Then I learned how to be a grown up and focus on what I need to do. Make notes, carry a notebook, whatever works for you but you need to develop good work/study habits before anything else. Drugs will not help you be a hard and dedicated worker.Comment

Exactly. I make my own edibles from scratch sometimes (ones i can eat that are easy on my stomache) and it gets me through my day with no problems. The problem is, the 'medical' use is so slim, and everyone is just in it for money. It makes me sick. My goal is to open up my own despencory, and if I do, the terminally ill (cemo patients) are getting free meds, thats just what i believe is right.
Smoking is not for everyone. I snap one bowl from my bong in the morning and that is perfect for me to be able to eat without feeling sick. If you use it the right way and are responsible, smoking weed can help many problems. But when has anybody heard the terms "smoking weed" and
"responsible" in the same sentance? Probably not.
It took me about 2 months to figure out how my body reacted and what was right for me. I know there are in fact people who use it for ADD with great success.Originally posted by bimmersharkwell 90 percent of the people i know disagree with you..and almost all of them are on the internet so they cant be wrongComment
