When track officials examined the wreckage of Senna's racing car, they found a furled Austrian flag. Senna had planned to raise it after the race, in honour of Ratzenberger.

i've been trying to stay away from posting in this for a bit now.. I have to say it's cool that you guys remember and give some words. It was and is, everytime it's brought up or remembered, really emotional. As a little kid in Brasil during his era, he was like a national hero. My dad would buy me magazines and stickers constantly. He was a huge national figure to all of us.

He was my hero, too. But I really cannot compare my experience with what you went through. Americans don't understand what a "national hero" is. We have too many figures in pop culture to choose from. Dale Sr. just doesn't compare (in so, so many ways).

Tragic event that morning.... A morning I'll never forget....The utter shock was overwhelming... My son Nick (Balleristic 31) was born that morning, an epic event
for me... I hope some of Senna rubs off on him, both behind the wheel and as a citizen of the world.
Sadly, I remember the inside cover of Racer magazine that next month. A picture of the wreckage after extracting him from the car. More specifically, the ekg tape strewn about the scene showing a flat line... A shame he didn't get to fly that Austrian flag

An inspiration to many. Watching that documentary with one of my friends actually got me into F1 and then into cars in general. I then fell in love with the E30 so in a way, he's the reason I'm here!
