Shuttle Launch July 8 Road trip!

Is anyone else going to make the trip? Want to meet up along the way? Want to show us around your neck of the woods?

We are road tripping from Nebraska, looking for suggestions on good places to see, eat etc. in the south. So far our only definite stop is to go though the Tail of the Dragon. Looking for good backroads to drive on, not worried about making good time. We plan to take a few days each way, see the country, sample the treats and just enjoy the ride. So if you have something you think we should see, even if it's 300 miles 'out of the way' post it up and we will check it out!

We like BBQ, beer and girls. Help us to find these necessities. :D

I'd change your route up, so you guys can head through Nashville, or come back through Nashville. Set it up to hit St. Louis as well. Looks like that route saves you another 60miles, not that big a deal, but.

Ton's of brewpubs, good restaurants and some baller places to stay with very reasonable rates. We stayed at www.huttonhotel.com when we were there, only like $130/night on special.

      This.

Not sure how long you're planning to be traveling, but Import Alliance is the following weekend at the superspeedway.

Updated the rough route in post 1.

Looking for suggestions around Charlotte, NC and everything south of there to florida.

We made it to Nashville last year, the parts I remember were good. What is your favorite restaurant there? What kind of local foods do you like? We will stop there for dinner on the way down.

We're going to stop at the Carolina smokehouse for some BBQ while near the Dragon.

Whiskey Kitchen, Taco Mammacita's (crazy weird flavor combinations on the taco's) and Broadway Brewhouse were my favs. The restaurant in The Hutton was good, not great considering the $$$

The Memphis dog at "Dog of Nashville" was outstanding for some cheap drunken eats.

We had wanted to try Jacks, but they were closed on Sunday when we were downtown. We did try Rendezvous in Memphis on our way to Nashville, you get better BBQ out of trailer in a parking lot here in town then at that tourist trap.

Thanks, that is why I am asking so we are not disappointed with tourist traps and bad food.
