That is an awesome feeling. When we got down to $500 left on my wife's student loan the company wrote it off. That was awesome!

Mine won't be paid off for a LONG time.

But the payment is low and so is the interest. I consolidated when I got out and all of it is under 2%. So I figure stocking the money in my 401k/savings is a better idea.

I know that feels good though, congrats!!

How much were your loans total? And how much per month? I'm looking at about $15,000 total for my student loans I think. I'm not finished with school yet and wondering how much it'll cost per month to pay off.

All of mine were through the federal government. They appear to do a good job of making sure you can afford the payments. Right now I'm on a 10 year plan to pay them off, and I started with like $35000. The highest paying "plan" they had was like $400 a month, and everything else was less. Nothing preventing a person from paying them off faster however.

Seriously, congratulation! I'm still in school right now and my loan is slowly building up. By the time I'm finish with school, I'll be around 200k in debt
