self serve auto repair shop in chicagoland. This place just started business locally, I know they have this out west. Seems like a nice thing around here for those who do not have the facility. google ( chronisterracing )

I looked into it, talked to a lawyer and attempted to get the ball rolling. We hit a big liability wall, amongst other laws and such.

we offer this service, but in 4 and 8 hour clips.

had our lawyer draw up a contract basically saying 46 different ways "we arent liable"...

Had one back in Calgary in the shady NE. Place was called u-wrench and they supplied hoists AND tools. Air ratchets were a rental item if you didn't have you own. wheel balancing machine too...heck, the other side of the shop even had body shop with paint booth.

staff on hand were VERY friendly and helpful. i had to do an alternator on my 03 Focus...damn POS would NOT com eout of the top of the engine, so I had to recruit a hand to pull the pass. CV shaft. What a pain that was!! sheesh!

Anyway, place was awesome, we have one here in Coquitlam (near vancouver), but it's not quite as good and they dont' have benches and no tools to rent...but for 20 an hour, I really can't complain

In terms of liability they had these sheets you had to sign when you came in. basically states that they arent' to blame if you hurt/kill yourself, but with all the helpful staff on hand, I just made sure to ask for help when I thought something might hurt me...saved my a$$ a couple of times :D
